Formed by former members of the now defunct band PF Station, JSB draw their name from the name of the subject of one of PF Station's songs, "A Night in the Life of Fly Jimmy Swift". Before eventually choosing their current name, the band was known for a time as Fly Jimmy Swift.
Combining intricate guitar and a distinctly electronica keyboard sound with a hard hitting and rock solid rock rhythm section, the band is known for its lengthy progressive instrumental jams that get the crowd up and moving.
The band has won three East Coast Music Awards, including Best Alternative Artist in 2002. The same year, JSB won three Music Industry Association of Nova Scotia (MIANS) awards, including Artist of the Year.
In 2004 the band produced their first video for the single "Two Hands on the Wheel" with New Brunswick filmmaker Greg Hemmings. On November 28, 2006, JSB released an animated video produced by Copernicus Studios for the single "Turnaround", from the album Weight of the World.
The band maintains a busy touring schedule across Canada and the US, and they have performed at numerous festivals including Nova Scotia's Evolve Festival, Prince Edward Island's Shoreline Festival, Moedown (NY), Haymaker (VA), the World Electronic Music Festival (Toronto) and many more. The group are at the head of a growing Atlantic Canada jam scene, and frequently play with fellow scene mates Grand Theft Bus, and Slowcoaster.
Daisy
The Jimmy Swift Band Lyrics

Are flashes in the pan, of one big master plan
And taking things in stride, makes everything a breeze
There's something in the air that's spreading a disease
I'm working overtime (overtime)
In the assembly line
And I think it might be time
I'm screaming for change, I'm screaming rearrange
And Daisy's got love in her eyes
And Daisy's got love in her eyes
And we milked it, for all it was worth
Yeah we milked it, for all it was worth
Job security, the war on poverty
Are flashes in the pan, of one big master plan
I'm screaming for change, I'm screaming rearrange
And Daisy's got love in her eyes
Yeah Daisy's got love in her eyes
Daisy's got love in her eyes
Daisy's got love in her eyes
Daisy's got love in her eyes
And we milked it, for all it was worth
Yeah we milked it, for all it was worth
Yeah we milked it, for all it was worth
Yeah we milked it, for all it was worth
The lyrics to The Jimmy Swift Band's "Daisy" are a commentary on the futility of job security and the war on poverty. The opening lines indicate that these concepts are fleeting, and part of a larger, overarching plan. The singer advises taking things in stride, but there is a sense of unease underlying the lyrics; there's something in the air, spreading like a disease. The singer works overtime on the assembly line and feels that it might be time for a change. They scream for change and rearrangement, symbolizing a desire for something different, something better. The repeated line, "And Daisy's got love in her eyes," serves as a beacon of hope in the midst of a bleak landscape.
The repeated phrase, "And we milked it, for all it was worth," is ambiguous. It could refer to the singer and Daisy making the most of a bad situation, or it could be a criticism of those who exploit others for their own gain. Regardless, the song ends on an unresolved note, with the singer still screaming for change.
This song is poignant and insightful, highlighting the sense of disillusionment and frustration that many people feel in today's society. It shows that even in the face of uncertainty, there is still hope for a better tomorrow.
