PRIVACY ISSUES

I remember when the internet was a fad
I remember the privacy I had
I remember a time I wasn't scared
But now that time has gone!

Overall Meaning

The Johns's song "Issues" seems to touch upon the theme of privacy in the digital age. The lyrics suggest a nostalgic sentiment towards a time when the internet was just emerging as a popular trend. The opening line, "I remember when the internet was a fad," reflects a reminiscence of a more innocent time when people were not fully aware of the potential implications and risks associated with their online activities.

The next line, "I remember the privacy I had," indicates a sense of longing for a period when individuals had a greater sense of control over their personal information. This could be interpreted as a critique of the current state of online privacy, where personal data is often easily accessible and vulnerable to exploitation by corporations or malicious individuals.

The following line, "I remember a time I wasn't scared," suggests that the singer once felt an absence of fear or concern about their online presence. It could imply that in the past, navigating the digital landscape was less daunting or perceived as less threatening. However, as the song progresses, it becomes clear that this feeling of security has vanished over time.

The closing line, "But now that time has gone!" conveys a sense of loss. It suggests that the singer mourns the loss of the carefree, trusting attitude towards the internet that they once possessed. The phrase implies that privacy concerns have escalated, leading to a feeling of vulnerability and a sense that the era of unrestricted privacy has passed.

Overall, "Issues" by The Johns appears to express a wistful reflection on the evolution of privacy in the digital age. It highlights the shift from a time of relative innocence and security to a present where privacy issues and concerns about personal information have become more prevalent and unsettling.

Jimmy John’s founder with a trophy hunt kill
The founder of the Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwich chain killed an elephant and a leopard for sport and some trophy photos.

That may not have anything to do with the quality of the chain’s food, but it does indicate the quality of the man behind the sandwiches.

So these are two reasons to eat elsewhere:

One dead African elephant and one dead Delta leopard, hunted down and killed by Jimmy John Liautaud for sport and some trophy photos.

The fine print under the photo above says “Jimmy John Liautaud with 79lbs tusker”.

The fine print under the photo below says “Jimmy John Liataud with Delta leopard”.

Congratulations, Jimmy John. I’m sure all your franchise owners are happy to know how you spend the profits they earn for you.

Maybe customers will think twice about helping you make more money so you can pose with a big grin alongside the big game you shot and killed for fun.

What do you think about Jimmy John's?

I work there right now, at my location all the staff and mangers are great, but severely underpaid. Some of my managers will wake up at like 2-3 am to get some big orders done and they make less than 15$ an hours. Considering how busy we are, it’s crazy!

@Susan Smith Depends on the state. California is the strictest.

I love the sandwiches but I'd appreciate it if you treat the employees better

I have always been in management and I forced my employees to take all of the breaks they were entitled to. ITS NOT A PERK. ITS THE LAW .1 HOUR FOR EVERY 8 HOURS.

"The US Food and Drug Administration has issued a warning letter to the Jimmy John's sandwich chain, saying certain vegetables it served were implicated in five outbreaks of E. coli or salmonella in the past seven years."

That non competition clause is a load of crap. Once they leave, Jimmy John's has no damn business telling them where they can work.

No fast food employee or delivery driver will be reviewed for work history or criminal record. Let alone non compete clauses. Lol
