Their live show makes a bit more sense of their name. With their rhythmic layering and huge indie pop riffs, it’s hard to imagine them performing under any other name.
‘The Jungle Giants’ is the brain child of lead singer Sam Hales who originally arranged the band as a solo project, but soon found that there was more to the group. Landing their debut gig at the Brisbane Powerhouse as part of ‘Livespark’ in late 2010, they impressed crowds with their head bopping and exciting live show. The band spent the summer of 2010 writing and recording their self-titled debut EP that was released in 2011.

I hear they take you anywhere you want to go
Do you wanna be happy, baby?
Get into your cop is so easy
Do you want to go? Mexico?
I hear they take you anywhere you wanna go
Do you wanna be happy, baby?
Get into your cop it's so easy
Mexico?
I hear they take you anywhere you wanna go
Do you wanna be happy, baby?
Get into your cop is so easy
Do you wanna go?
Do you wanna go?
Mexico?
Do you wanna go?
Do you wanna go?
Mexico?
The lyrics to The Jungle Giants' song "Mexico" centers around the idea of escape and finding happiness. The song opens with the question, "Do you want to go? Mexico?", suggesting that Mexico serves as a metaphorical destination for happiness and freedom. The lyrics go on to say that in Mexico, "they take you anywhere you want to go" and getting into your "cop" is "so easy." The playful and carefree tone of the lyrics suggests that the main focus is on seeking an adventure, rather than any specific goal or itinerary.
The repetition of the question, "Do you wanna go?" creates a sense of urgency and excitement, as if the singer is trying to persuade their listener to join them on this journey. The phrase "Do you wanna be happy, baby?" reinforces the idea that the purpose of the trip is to find happiness and joy. The use of the word "cop" is ambiguous, but it is likely referring to a car or mode of transportation. The line "get into your cop it's so easy" is a nod to the ease with which one can leave their current situation and embark on an adventure.
Overall, the lyrics to "Mexico" are lighthearted and fun, with a focus on the thrill of the unknown and the joy of seeking happiness. The repetition of the chorus invites the listener to join in on the singer's journey, adding to the overall sense of community and adventure.
