Kevin Waide is a guitarist and singer-songwriter with a passion for the blues. A native of Tupelo, Mississippi, Kevin was raised on the sounds of blues greats like Albert King, Muddy Waters, and John Lee Hooker. Coming from a musical family, it was only natural that he would pick up an instrument. Kevin started on harmonica and mimicked the sounds heard on the front porches in rural Mississippi.
Next was the guitar, and he quickly learned by listening to albums by B. B. King, Buddy Guy, and Howlin’ Wolf. Playing semi-professionally since the age of 16, Kevin has “lived the blues” both on and off stage. A purist in the sense that every performance is unique, his unconventional, sometimes irreverent approach to the blues is to just let it flow.
The Kevin Waide Project
Formed in 2007, The Kevin Waide Project is the brainchild of Kevin and drummer Chris “Foosh” Fooshee and includes Jason "The Rooster" Carter on guitar and Blake Allen Miller on bass. The Project lives by its motto: “If we know it, we’ll do it, and if we don’t, hum a few bars and we’ll try it anyway!”
The Project blends the blues with classic rock and country, and even a little funk and soul to help it all gel.
The Project has a large catalog of original material at the ready for those who want to hear something new. Sit for a spell, let it flow with the Project, and you’ll be entertained.

Hypnotized
The Kevin Waide Project Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The music was playing way too loud
Went to the bar to grab a drink
Stepped outside so I could think
She strolled onto the dance floor
Took off her coat and Oh, my Lord!
That schoolgirl costume was the best
Took one more look and, girl, I knew
Just what I was gonna do
She looked at me with those eyes
Felt like I'd been hypnotized
No other woman did I see
That room was made for her and me
I walked on up and said hello
She started dancing really slow
She rubbed my arm and slid on in
My soul was bathing in the sin
And right then I realized
That she had me hypnotized
Gave me a wink and said goodnight
Turned and offered me a ride
Smiled at me and then she said
"Those cancer sticks'll kill ya dead!"
My mind was rushing all around
About this woman I had found
She picked me up when I was blue
Left me feeling good as new
And just today I realized
She still has me hypnotized
In the song "Hypnotized" by The Kevin Waide Project, the singer describes a captivating encounter with a woman who catches his attention in a crowded place. He sees her standing in the crowd, but the loud music prompts him to step outside for a moment of reflection. However, when he returns, he witnesses her confidently walking onto the dance floor, removing her coat, and revealing a schoolgirl costume that leaves him awe-struck. This visual sight triggers a rush of emotions, causing his heart to race.
The singer then expresses his certainty about what he is going to do next, indicating his strong attraction to this woman. As he approaches her, she catches his gaze with her captivating eyes, making him feel as though he has been hypnotized. In that moment, no other woman matters to him, as he believes that the room was solely created for their connection.
When the singer initiates conversation with her, she responds by dancing slowly and sensually. Her touch on his arm and her proximity evoke a feeling of euphoria and pleasure within his soul. At this point, he fully comprehends the depth of his fascination and acknowledges that he is completely under her spell, hypnotized by her presence.
As their interaction comes to an end, she bids him goodnight and offers him a ride. Before parting ways, she hints at her concern for his well-being, playfully warning him about the dangers of smoking with the phrase "Those cancer sticks'll kill ya dead!" This recollection reinforces the impact she had on him, as her words still resonate in his mind long after their encounter.
Reflecting on their time together, the singer realizes the significant impact this woman had on his life. She was there for him during a difficult period, lifting his spirits and leaving him feeling rejuvenated. Despite the passage of time, he admits that he still feels under her control, indicating that she continues to have a lasting influence on him.
