Come On Home You'll
The King Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
But if you decide to change your mind I'll be here come on home
You accused me that I cheated that's the last thing I'd ever do
You're the only love I'll ever know I could never cheat on you
Do anything that you want to but don't leave me all alone
For if you stay gone for a hundred years I'll be here come on home
I wish you tell me what's come over you I don't really know what is wrong
Do anything that you want to
but don't leave me all alone
For if you stay gone for a hundred years I'll be here come on home
In these lyrics, The King expresses his feelings of love towards his partner who is on the verge of leaving him. He pleads with her not to go and assures her that he would always be there for her if she decides to return. King believes that his partner's accusations of cheating on her are untrue, and he expresses his loyalty towards her. Even if she decides to leave and return after a hundred years, he would still be waiting for her to come home. He seems confused as to why she wants to leave him but lets her know that he loves her no matter what she decides to do.
The overall vibe of the song is melancholic, as King portrays the desperation of someone who doesn't want to lose their love. The chorus, "Do anything that you want to but don't leave me all alone" reinforces the idea that love is about being together, and the fear of someone leaving can be unbearable.

@tnl2you I learned it was Lou Rawls about five years ago, only, and was blown away by how I didn’t realize it, and why it has been rarely mentioned it’s him singing background. He’s getting busy!
