Hey Hey Hey
The Kinison Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Ok I'm pulling out the backseat lover
Oh I'm so hypnotized
I'd rather sleep than sit and watch you cry
It's up to you if you can validate

I'd rather die than sit and watch you wait
It's time to go and then realize
That you're the one I truly despise
Oh, so we're there and it's time to pack
I'd take you back

I can't believe one thing you say to me
I almost let you meet my whole family
This goes backwards, up, this and anyway

Hey! hey! hey! hey! hey! hey! hey! hey! hey!

Ok I'm pulling out the backseat lover
Oh I'm so hypnotized
I'd rather sleep than sit and watch you cry
It's up to you if you can validate
I'd rather die than sit and watch you wait

[Repeat: x2]
I can't breathe anymore
I'm telling your lies, I'm telling your secrets, I'm telling on you
I can't see the score
I'm taking it back, I'm taking it back, I'm taking it

I can't believe one thing you say to me
I almost let you meet my whole family
This goes backwards, up, this and anyway

Hey! hey! hey! hey! hey! hey! hey! hey! hey!

[Repeat: x2]
I can't breathe anymore
I'm telling your lies, I'm telling your secrets, I'm telling on you
I can't see the score
I'm taking it back, I'm taking it back, I'm taking it

Hey! hey! hey! hey! hey! hey! hey! hey! hey!

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Hey Hey Hey" by The Kinison are a bit cryptic, but seem to be about a relationship that has gone sour. The opening line, "Ok I'm pulling out the backseat lover," suggests that the singer is leaving a situation where they have been intimate with someone in a car. However, the singer seems dissatisfied with the relationship and says, "I'd rather sleep than sit and watch you cry." The tone of the song turns angry when the singer says, "It's time to go and then realize that you're the one I truly despise."

The chorus, which repeats several times throughout the song, features the words "Hey! hey! hey! hey! hey! hey! hey! hey! hey!" It's unclear what this is meant to signify, but it seems to be a release of pent-up frustration. The song ends with the singer saying, "I'm telling your lies, I'm telling your secrets, I'm telling on you," which suggests that they are seeking revenge on their former partner.

Overall, the lyrics to "Hey Hey Hey" portray a relationship that has soured and left the singer feeling disillusioned and angry. The repeated use of "Hey! hey! hey!" adds to the song's sense of frustration and tension.

Ive always liked Kinison for the accent and chords used. Some being similar to the Beetles. I was in a record store back in 2004 flicking through CD's when I noticed this band were signed to Travis Barker's record label. Without hearing a single note of their music, i bought the album and 6 years later it's still the greatest album I own. Seeing them supporting Blink 182 at Wembley was a great day, the band played an amazing set but sadly the Blink fans didn't feel the same. RIP The Kinison

Was lucky enough to see them open live for Blink on the $1 bill tour NYC. Crowd was so lame for them. I thought they were fresh new and interesting. Still one of my favorite cds to listen to

Wrong cover for this song. “Hey Hey Hey” was on their EP/Single Mortgage Is Bank which was released back in 2003. I saw The Kinison several times, one of those times, Chris had me take his place on stage to sing“Lake Calmern Is Full Now” I couldn’t stand listening to What Are You Listening To? on YouTube anymore, so I had to track the CD down and it finally got delivered today.

Yes, I do realize my comment is a bit late

thugjuice69

@Andrew Hyland wait, huh? This is the wrong cover art

Andrew Hyland

thugjuice69 yep, wrong cover art. The cover art for Mortgage Is Bank is black and white. The cover art used for the song on your video is for their full length album What Are You Listening To?.
