The Kooks formed at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music, where they were all students. Lead singer and rhythm guitarist Luke Pritchard, got bassist Max Rafferty involved in a college project, which formed the base of the band. After getting lead guitarist Hugh Harris and drummer Paul Garred involved, they took their name from the song Kooks on the 1971 David Bowie album Hunky Dory. When they tried to trademark the name, they found that in the late/mid 1990s a Swedish band by the same name released an album in Sweden called Too Much is Not Enough.
The Kooks released a debut EP and played gigs around Brighton, where they were based at the time. They were signed to Virgin Records.
2. Swedish indie rock/alternative band - It consisted of members Henrik Berglund, Leo Dahlin, Michael Lohse and Josef Zackrisson, and was active between 1998 and the early 2000's. Micke Lohse and Henrik Berglund are currently members of the band Atomic Swing.

Although you could have done more
Oh, you're so naive, yet so
How could this be done?
By such a smiling sweetheart
Oh, and your sweet and pretty face
Something so beautiful
That every time I look inside
I know that she knows that I'm not fond of asking
True or false, it may be
She's still out to get me
I know that she knows that I'm not fond of asking
True or false, it may be
She's still out to get me
I may say it was your fault
'Cause I know you could have done more
Oh, you're so naive, yet so
How could this be done
By such a smiling sweetheart?
Oh, and your sweet and pretty face
In such an ugly way something so beautiful
Every time I look inside
I know that she knows that I'm not fond of asking
True or false, it may be
She's still out to get me
I know that she knows that I'm not fond of asking
True or false, it may be
She's still out to get me
How could this be done
By such a smiling sweetheart?
Oh, you're so naive, yet so
Such an ugly thing
Someone so beautiful
And every time you're on his side
I know she knows that I'm not fond of asking
True or false, it maybe be
She's still out to get me
And I know she knows that I'm not fond of asking
True or false, it maybe be
She's still out to get me
Just don't let me down
Just don't let me down
Hold on to your kite
Just don't let me down
Just don't let me down
Hold on to your kite
Just don't let me down
Just don't let me down
Hold on to this kite
Just don't let me down
Just don't let me down
The lyrics of The Kooks' song "Naive" speak to the betrayal and heartbreak of a relationship gone wrong. The singer seems to have been hurt by someone they trusted, perhaps a significant other, who did something unforgivable. They initially state that they are not blaming the other person entirely, but that they could have done more to prevent what happened. They then describe their confusion and disbelief that someone so "naive" and innocent-looking could have committed such a heinous act.
Throughout the song, there is a repeated refrain of "I know that she knows that I'm not fond of asking, true or false it may be, she's still out to get me." This suggests that the singer's distrust and skepticism towards the other person were already present but were ignored or dismissed. Despite this, the other person still betrayed them, and the singer is left feeling hurt and confused.
The final lines of the song express a plea to not be let down again and to hold onto something precious, symbolized by the kite. This can be interpreted as a hope for a better future and a desire to move on from the pain of the past.

I'm not saying it your fault
I am not directly saying that it is your fault
Although you could have done more
However, you could have done more to prevent it
Oh, you're so naive, yet so
You are so innocent, yet so
How could this be done?
How was this even possible?
By such a smiling sweetheart
By someone who seemed so sweet and innocent
Oh, and your sweet and pretty face
Oh, and your attractive and charming appearance
In such an ugly way
In such a cruel and unpleasant manner
Something so beautiful
Something so attractive and appealing
That every time I look inside
That every time I reflect on it
I know that she knows that I'm not fond of asking
I am aware that she is aware that I do not like to inquire
True or false, it may be
It may be true or false
She's still out to get me
However, she is still trying to harm me
I may say it was your fault
I may put the blame on you
'Cause I know you could have done more
Because I know you had the capability to do more
Such an ugly thing
Such a terrible and unpleasant situation
Someone so beautiful
Someone so attractive and appealing
And every time you're on his side
And every time you support him
Just don't let me down
Please do not disappoint me
Hold on to your kite
Hang on to what you value

This song was released in March of 2006; I turned 16 in June of that year and this song was part of the soundtrack to that summer...
I met a girl, and fell in love (and out of love and back again which was a pattern that repeated itself too many times for me to mention and with the same woman for the best part of the following decade)
Hearing it now still brings back fond memories in a nostalgic way... happy, carefree times as teens... we didnât know how lucky we were... but it also makes me sad for the same reason.
I donât know that girl anymore- I hope sheâs happy...
But I sure am thankful for songs like this one. The noughties were such a wonderful time for indie music. We were just so lucky.
