The Dream That Took Me Over
The Lickerish Quartet Lyrics

Climb, with you away into the night
The Dream that took me Over

You're the dream that took me over,
I saw your eyes in my sleep
Your's a face I've longed to touch now
You're the one that I have need of

You're the dream that took me over,
As I made my way downtown
Endless lights in rear view mirrors
You're the one I think I've finally found

Could you be the love of my live?
I don't know maybe?
I'm way too wild got a lot on my mind
But I've gotta let you know that I feel
You are the dream that took me over
The dream that took me over
And all I want to do is fly, with you away
Into the night.

You're the wave that swept me under
You're the swell that brought me in
In your jungle I chase shadows
Fascinated by your every whim
All for you my sun sets and rises
And all I have to give's at stake
Cause you're the dream that took me over
And for that I'll never be the same

Could you be the love of my live?
I don't know maybe?
I'm way too wild got a lot on my mind
But I've gotta let you know that I feel
You are the dream that took me over
The dream that took me over
And all I wanna do is climb
With you away into the night

The Dream That Took Me Over
The Dream That Took Me Over

I learned over time that I'm broke inside
Deal in my own way, this lonely ride
No point in grief, there's no need to cry
But realize

You could be the love of my life
I don't know maybe?
A damaged kiss is all I can provide
Still I've gotta let you know that I feel
You are the dream that took me over
The dream that took me over
And all I wanna do is climb
With you away
Into the night

You could be the love of my life
I don't know maybe?
I'm way too wild, and I'm young in my mind
But I've gotta let you know that I feel
You are the dream that took me over
The dream that took me over
And all I wanna do is climb
With you away
Into the night

Overall Meaning

"The Dream That Took Me Over" by The Lickerish Quartet is a song about a person who has been taken over by a dream about someone they have been searching for. The lyrics describe the person's desire to be with this individual and their uncertainty about their own ability to love. The song's opening lines, "Climb, with you away into the night, The Dream that took me Over," set the theme of the song, which is about a journey into the unknown with the person who has captured the singer's heart.

The lyrics convey a sense of longing and hopefulness, as the singer tries to figure out if this person is the one they have been searching for. The lines "Could you be the love of my life? I don't know, maybe? I'm way too wild got a lot on my mind, But I've gotta let you know that I feel" express the singer's doubts but also their willingness to take a chance on love. The chorus, "You're the dream that took me over, The dream that took me over, And all I wanna do is fly, with you away into the night," reinforces the idea that the person is the one the singer has been looking for, and they are willing to take a risk to be with them.

The second verse speaks to the power that this person holds over the singer. The lines "You're the wave that swept me under, You're the swell that brought me in, In your jungle, I chase shadows, Fascinated by your every whim" suggest that the singer is enamored with this individual and is captivated by their every move. The final verse expresses the singer's vulnerability and willingness to be open to love, even though they have been hurt before.

This song was one of the most beautiful songs I've heard in 2023, Eric's voice is just amazing! thank you so much for sharing such a wonderful song!

@AlerieHightower

I was two years late getting to this, but now that I've found it, I probably listen to it at least 20 times a day while I'm working or driving. The vocals and bass line are just stellar. I can't get it out of my head. Thank you so much, TLQ!! We are not worthy.

@kerryhenderson4857

TLQ has been the auditory salve during this insane time of COVID. Each song on vol. 1 & 2 has been different and unique; familiar but totally original all at the same time. It's like hearing versions of each band member's past projects giving a shot of nostalgia and yet somehow still making it fresh to the ear. I'm so grateful that these fine musicians share their talents with us. Once again, great job guys!

@Hej67

I couldn't agree more.

@sejrec56

I totally agree w you

@sejrec56

Where are all these guys from, I know a lot already about Manning, but what about the others bands they are from?

@MG-vs1lq

@sejrec56 Tim and Eric also played with Jellyfish for a time. Tim has played with multiple other artists (notably Sheryl Crow, Crowded House and The Producers. Eric was with Roger in Imperial Drag, and he was also in Slash's Snakepit and Sextus.

@JeffIndigo

Cool stuff. Eric has a voice that does't age!

@kerryhenderson4857

He clearly takes care of his pipes!

@AlerieHightower

I think he sounds even better, if that's possible!
