Victorino, who had previously performed with rock band Strata, stated that he was "tired of band politics" and "needed another outlet, one that wasn't quite as dark and heavy". Giusti and Victorino started the Limousines after communicating online and exchanged lyrics, music and recorded vocals online.
The band played at Live 105's BFD concert, Treasure Island Music Festival 2009, opening for Duran Duran's show at Mountain Winery. In 2009, the band received local and some national radio airplay and chart success on Sirius/XM's Alt Nation with the song "Very Busy People". In late 2009, they independently released their first physical record, The Scrapbook EP, on dual 7" white vinyl. It features four songs originally available only as MP3 demos: "Scrapbook 1998", "Plans Are Just Coincidence", "New Year's Resolution", and "ithinkican". Scrapbook was re-released in 2012 in CD form and contained two new tracks: "To Be Adored" and "Short'n Sweet."
The band released their debut album Get Sharp on July 27, 2010 through iTunes and Hot Topic on indie label Orchard City Books and Noise. The album most notably features the songs "Very Busy People" and "Internet Killed the Video Star".
Stranger
The Limousines Lyrics

with a stranger on the other end of a string
smiling in a picture glowing on a screen
she don’t know I’m on the line and listening
everywhere you go
I’ll follow you
everyone you know
everywhere you go
I’ll follow you, I’ll follow you, I’ll follow you
I wanna love you in real life
think I see you in the streetlight
an empty lot you never walk by
kinda wonder what you feel like
I’ll be inside before you realize
I’m memorizing every pixel of your skin
and every single one’s another scene that begins
with when I meet you on the other end of dream
you don’t know me but I know you’ll let me in
everywhere you go, I’ll follow you
everyone you know, I know them too
everywhere you go, I’ll follow you
I gotta let you know, I gotta let you know
I wanna love you in real life
never get sick of falling in and out of love,
in and out of love.
The Limousines's song Stranger is an introspective track about infatuation with someone you have never met in person but have only seen through social media. The song talks about falling in and out of love with a stranger on the other end of a string, and the singer is always listening, always following them around on social media. He talks about how he knows everything about her life, her family, her friends, her favourite places, but she doesn't even know he exists. He watches her pictures and memorizes every pixel of her skin, building up an intricate picture of her in his mind.
The lyrics are melancholic and introverted, tapping into the idea of unrequited love in the digital age. The singer feels a deep connection to the stranger on the other end of the string but is unable to take it to the next level as they are just a pixelated image on his screen. At the end of the song, he declares that he wants to love her in real life, signifying his desire to meet her and take their relationship offline.
Overall, the lyrics of Stranger are emotive and relatable for anyone who has experienced the thrill of social media crushes or unrequited love.
