In The Morning
The Lovers Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Morning in the Aves
Going nowhere fast
I've got bigger plans
Thirteen hundred years
Rolling up my sleeves
Oh, how I miss the leaves
I feel fine today
Wish the lights would stay green
Wish the drivers weren't so mean

Christmas comes and crumbs fill up your bed
Put your tapes in the VCR
Helps those days feel not so far behind you
Broke the looking glass
Didn't grow up too fast
Wish it all could last

What if you found your voice?
What if you had a choice?
Would you tell me off?
Bet you would you run away
Bet you know what you would say
And what it takes to

Ah
Ah

And I'll find
I'll find time

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "In the Morning" by The Lovers depict a sense of frustration and longing for a different, perhaps more fulfilling life. The opening lines, "Morning in the Aves, going nowhere fast, I've got bigger plans," suggest a feeling of being stuck in a mundane routine with an underlying desire for something more meaningful. The reference to "Thirteen hundred years" symbolizes a long passage of time and emphasizes the feeling of being trapped in a monotonous existence.

As the song progresses, the lyrics convey a sense of nostalgia and yearning for the past. The lines, "Oh, how I miss the leaves, I feel fine today, wish the lights would stay green, wish the drivers weren't so mean," express a longing for simpler times and a wish for a more pleasant and peaceful present. The mention of Christmas and the crumbs filling up the bed evoke a sense of nostalgia for childhood and the comforts of home.

The lyrics also touch upon the theme of self-discovery and the desire to assert oneself. The lines, "What if you found your voice? What if you had a choice? Would you tell me off? Bet you would you run away, bet you know what you would say and what it takes to," illustrate a yearning for personal empowerment and the introspection that comes with it. The song hints at the possibility of breaking free from the shackles of conformity and embracing one's true desires and passions.

Remember to focus on yourself. Don't let your mind stray off into thinking of her and what she is doing. What good will that do? Don't think about things you can't control. You pick and choose what harms you, so choose not to be harmed by your ex.
Let your mind go off into meaningful things that you can control, things in the present. Such as working on a new hobby, going out, cleaning, working out, and other meaningful activities.

@Levente Fejér Bro you're 100% right. We met on Tinder 😬💀. Shes already found someone else an I'm jus left with my memories of the things we did an said. But it's my fault for gettin attached, I shoulda knew better. But I know now an all I can do is keep goin

Levente Fejér

@Outlander8696 they will probably end up on tinder at age 32 and realise no one want them.

Yep, that's exactly where I'm at right now. But I'm learnin to deal with it. I still see her in a lot of the things i do, in a lot of places I go, an the music we liked now carries an oh so bittersweet sound. But shes gone now an she slowly fades from my mind an heart with each passin day. But I think I'll be ok, jus gotta see where the road takes me.
