Jasmine Fletcher  @Jasmine Fletcher  Defendants should know and avail themselves of available defenses. Cops will arrest someone who isn't drunk and lie about what did and didn't happen in order to try to get a conviction, even for someone who is innocent. Cops are dirty. Perjury is a crime police commit constantly. DUI enforcement uses junk science to get convictions (e.g. the phony field sobriety tests). The breathalyzers they use are known to be inaccurate and the manufacturers curiously don't let anyone examine the workings of their devices. If a person is genuinely guilty of being drunk then the charge will withstand defense efforts without the police and prosecution cheating. The problem is police and prosecutors do cheat, and they do it shamelessly.

Don't drive drunk is not the same thing as don't drink and drive. Just like driving in snow, driving in darkness, and driving in rain, all of which carry some theoretical increase in the chance of a crash and injury or death, driving after consuming a reasonable amount of alcohol can be done safely. After consuming some amount of alcohol, it is not necessary to abstain from driving for the rest of one's life. MADD makes money off of arrests, so they want to maximize the number of arrests. When the cops put cuffs on someone and the courts order the person to attend a Victim Impact Panel, that's MADD's revenue! They try to categorize social drinkers who pose no danger with people who abuse alcohol because that increases the number of people MADD can shake down and artificially makes MADD seem relevant. It's just like the local theater would love to have courts force defendants to purchase tickets to their shows because they sell more tickets, except the theater doesn't falsely claim to be a non-profit and the content at the theater has actual artistic and entertainment value and requires talent. MADD just exploits (purported) victims of drunk driving crashes to help shake down even people who did not and would not cause any harm.

The police make no effort whatsoever to genuinely sort out who is actually drunk and who isn't. They don't use any valid sound objective way to discern. That's too much trouble for the cop. The more arrests they make, the more money MADD makes, and the more awards the cop gets from MADD, which makes the cop feel like a hero and helps his career.

Want to eliminate all car deaths? Get rid of cars. Find another way to get where you're going, or don't go.

While "Don't drive drunk" is valid, "Don't drive after drinking any amount of alcohol" is overly simplistic, not realistic, and not necessary, the same way "don't drive at all" is unrealistic and unnecessary.

This was one of the saddest and most depressing thing I've ever watched. But it truly is an eye opener and I shared it with everyone I know and love because I never want them to be the cause of a death or deaths

Wow, this should be mandatory for anyone ever convicted of driving impaired. It hit home to me and really changed my ways of thinking.

LNM 6753

More like this should be mandatory in Driver's Ed for anybody learning to drive.

This was heart breaking. We have children and cannot imagine the loss. I have had a rude awakening. I’m so so sad for these families I’m crying. I have learned my lesson. Thank God I never hurt anyone when I was a drunk driver. It will never happen again.
