Latter Days
The Middle Eight Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

What do we have,
Left in which we can hope to depend?
Our supplies at an end,
And all the anchors that hold us are dead.

And in this dire time line,
Will we all trip off the edge?
Or like the globe we sit on,
Can we wander to no end?

Oh, latter days, latter days, latter days, latter days,
No, ain't shit craze, can't help to replace.

I can see why,
We have suffered from time out of mind.
This dramatic descend,
Is turning into a passion in rare.

And in this dire time line,
Will we all trip off the edge?
Or like the globe we sit on,
Can we wander to no end?

Oh, latter days, latter days, latter days, latter days,
No, ain't shit craze, can't help to replace.

(We're safe)

Oh, latter days, latter days, latter days, latter days,
No, ain't shit craze, can't help to replace.

Oh, latter days, latter days, latter days, latter days,
No, ain't shit craze, can't help to replace.

Overall Meaning

The song "Latter Days" by The Middle Eight discusses the state of the world in its current condition. The lyrics suggest that hope is dwindling, and the supplies we have are limited. The anchors that hold us, or the things that keep us grounded and stable, are dead, possibly symbolizing a loss of tradition and values that provide stability. The dire timeline of the world begs the question of whether we will fall apart or continue to exist like the globe we sit on, aimlessly drifting. The repeated phrase "latter days" implies that we are living in the end times, or that the state of the world is reaching a climax.

The lyrics suggest that the struggles of the world are nothing new and that suffering is something that has plagued humans throughout history. The descent into chaos, however, is taking on a new form of passion, emphasizing that the world is spiraling out of control. Despite the chaos, there is still hope that we can remain safe and survive.

Like the early days? When I was a kid, this was cutting edge! Early days just revolved around the band over and over. This is basic claymation.

I really meant back in the good ol' days when MTV played cool music videos and songs that didn't blow. This song clearly doesn't blow, and the video is cool in a "wtf just happened?" kind of way.

This music video is very good. The animation is better than yours. The animator who made this reminds me of Martin Luther King or Zeus bc of how good it is. I really like sushi, especially ebi which is the shrimp on rice. I love how sticky and warm it tastes. If this video was sushi, it would be ebi, that's my opinion.

I like it.
for me it shows how we have been reduced to amoeba by surveillance and the war on terror,, also the digital capture of everything physical... this what man has perhaps become...we are interesting to each other but we are now different species.  I like it very much.
