Formed in 1985, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones started playing in Boston clubs in the mid-1980s. After a brief period of inactivity due to the schooling commitments of its members, they reformed and released their album Devil's Night Out on Taang! Records. The Bosstones toured relentlessly throughout the 1990s, playing hundreds of shows a year, releasing albums and spinning off the popular rock radio hit "Someday I Suppose". They were eventually signed to Mercury Records. The band appeared in the movie Clueless. In 1997, the success of their single "The Impression That I Get" and its follow up, "The Rascal King" earned them mainstream recognition. In 2000 they put out their critically acclaimed disk Pay Attention. The Mighty Mighty Bosstones released their last album on Side One Dummy Records. They officially went on hiatus in 2003, citing too much time on the road and desire to branch out and do different things. In 2007, the Bosstones announced that they were reforming. They played their 10th Hometown Throwdown in Boston and released a new album, Medium Rare, which consists of rare B-sides, and 3 new songs, including the single, "Don't Worry Desmond Dekker".
The band announced their split in early 2022.
Dr. D

It's coming from the basement.
It's underneath the house now.
And it's rockin' the foundation.
It's the noise we love to make,
and for year's we have been making.
While Doctor D watches TV his house is fucking shaking.
He lets us practice in his place.
Takes vacation, owns property,
Dr. Dalsimer, Dr. D.
In the daytime what's he doin?
Upstairs in the attic he's saving lives from ruin.
And sorting through the static, he puts back together brains?
I guess they're broken.
bip...
And I'm not fucking joking.
He lets us practice in his place.
He's got a wife with a pretty face.
Takes vacation, owns property.
Dr. Dalsimer, Dr. D.
Nice, nice, nice neighborhood.
And nice place to raise the kids.
They're tough strings to obtain but Dr. D. He did.
Worked hard to take it easy.
Worked hard and wasn't lazy.
Guitars drums, tones, saxophones;
He must be fucking crazy
He lets us practice in his place.
He's got a wife with a pretty face.
Takes vacation, owns property.
Dr. Dalsimer, Dr. D.
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones's song "Dr. D" is an ode to the band's practice space and the man who owns it, Dr. Dalsimer. The song opens with the sound of loud music coming from the basement and the noisy, rocking foundation that the band loves. They speak of Dr. D as the man who watches TV while his house shakes from the band's practice sessions. He allows them to use his place for their practicing despite that it may cause a disturbance. Dr. D is portrayed as a man whom the band loves and respects, not only due to his hospitality but also his personal qualities. The song speaks of Dr. D being a successful man with a pretty wife, property, and vacations, which reflects his hard work and effort. In the daytime, Dr. D works upstairs in the attic to save lives from ruin and put brains back together that have gone through static. Essentially, the song emphasizes the uniqueness and the blessings that Dr. D gives to the band and how they appreciate him.

Oh man, first comment on a Bosstones VIdeo, here is my chance to shine,I've always waited for this moment, for people to come across and see what I took the time to write, and I am glad, I honestly do not know what to say, so much I can say right now, I can start a debate or just leave a comment telling every one how much I enjoy the Bosstones, I feel so complete right now, I honestly feel pure now, I just hope it doesn't end in something stupid before I run out of space like saying Testicles.
