Formed in 1985, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones started playing in Boston clubs in the mid-1980s. After a brief period of inactivity due to the schooling commitments of its members, they reformed and released their album Devil's Night Out on Taang! Records. The Bosstones toured relentlessly throughout the 1990s, playing hundreds of shows a year, releasing albums and spinning off the popular rock radio hit "Someday I Suppose". They were eventually signed to Mercury Records. The band appeared in the movie Clueless. In 1997, the success of their single "The Impression That I Get" and its follow up, "The Rascal King" earned them mainstream recognition. In 2000 they put out their critically acclaimed disk Pay Attention. The Mighty Mighty Bosstones released their last album on Side One Dummy Records. They officially went on hiatus in 2003, citing too much time on the road and desire to branch out and do different things. In 2007, the Bosstones announced that they were reforming. They played their 10th Hometown Throwdown in Boston and released a new album, Medium Rare, which consists of rare B-sides, and 3 new songs, including the single, "Don't Worry Desmond Dekker".
The band announced their split in early 2022.

Get up and on or be misplaced
Tomorrow or until my end
Come make or break - I tend to bend
Hey! Hey! Last night I think when I was forced
To reevaluate everything that I've endorsed
Then separate what's left from right
Finally Finally! Finally I was forced to face
Another first for me
Finally I was forced to face
And for the first time finally, I can see
Finally I can see so clear and
For a moment don't mind me
Finally I was forced to face
Finally I was forced to face my fears
Hey! Hey! Today at some point I awoke
Got up and finally got the joke
Got up the nerve to face me. finally force a change
To say the least, today's been strange haha
Tonight I'll finally just relax
Proud having finally faced the facts
The facts forced me and I've concluded
Tomorrow I'll be less polluted
Finally Finally! Finally I was forced to face
Another first for me
Finally I was forced to face
And for the first time finally, I can see
Finally I can see so clear
For a moment don't mind me
Finally I was forced to face
Finally I was forced to face my fears
Forced to face my fears Finally!
Finally! finally finally finally
Finally! finally finally Finally!
Finally I was forced to face
Another first for me Finally I was forced to face
And for the first time finally, I can see
Finally I can see so clear
For a moment don't mind me
Finally I was forced to face
Finally I was forced to face my fears Hey!
The lyrics of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones's song "Finally" appear to be about someone who has been forced to face certain truths about themselves and their situation, possibly due to a difficult experience or realization. The lyrics suggest that this person has been avoiding confronting these issues and may have been in denial, but now they can finally see clearly and are ready to make necessary changes.
The song seems to be divided into different parts that describe the different stages of this process. In the first verse, the person is reflecting on their recent struggles and acknowledging that they need to either step up or risk being left behind. In the second verse, they describe a moment of self-reflection where they were able to separate what was right from wrong and come to some realizations. In the chorus, they celebrate this breakthrough and acknowledge that they have finally faced their fears and can move forward.
