After their initial formation in 2008, their debut album "Passive Me, Aggressive You" was released on the "Somewhat Damaged" label during September 2010. On 6 December 2010, the BBC announced that The Naked and Famous had been nominated for the BBC's Sound of 2011 poll.
Their second album, 2013's In Rolling Waves, reached the top 5 on the New Zealand Albums chart, and top 15 on the Australian Albums and US Billboard Top Alternative Albums charts. Their following album, Simple Forms, was Xayalith and Powers' first release as a two-piece. Their fourth album, Recover, was released in 2020, and peaked at 19 on RMNZ's New Zealand Artist Albums chart.
Coming Back To Me
The Naked and Famous Lyrics

It buried me and left me in the dust
Sometimes I don’t feel good enough
And ‘good enough’ would barely make it good for us
I’m lost in the back of my mind
I’m lost in the back of my mind
I don’t wanna lose it this time
Everything I’ve loved
Everything I’ve lost is coming back to me
Coming back to me
You were like a holy light
Tender as a quiet sunrise
I recall those sleepy eyes
They told me not to worry
We would be alright
I’m lost in the back of my mind
I’m lost in the back of my mind
I don’t wanna lose it this time
I’m lost in the back of my mind
Everything I’ve loved
Everything I’ve lost is coming back to me
Coming back to me
Everything I’ve loved
Everything I’ve lost
Everything I was
Is coming back to me
Coming back to me
I buried the idea of love
I decided to abandon the concept of love.
It buried me and left me in the dust
Love overwhelmed me and left me feeling deserted.
Sometimes I don’t feel good enough
Occasionally, I doubt my worth.
And ‘good enough’ would barely make it good for us
Even if I were just 'good enough', it wouldn't be sufficient for our relationship.
You were like a holy light
You were like a sacred beacon of hope.
Tender as a quiet sunrise
Gentle like a peaceful sunrise.
I recall those sleepy eyes
I remember your tired, yet comforting eyes.
They told me not to worry
Your eyes reassured me not to be anxious.
We would be alright
You promised that everything would be okay.
Everything I’ve loved
All the things that I have cherished.
Everything I’ve lost is coming back to me
All that I've lost in the past is returning to me.
Everything I was
All that I used to be.
Is coming back to me
Is making its way back to me.
