Better Than That
The New Madness Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
But after all I'm still breathing
Hate to admit I lost my cool for a while
I'd bring the pain, oh you'd bring the smile
What's all that for
Well, I don't know
What could've been
Say it ain't so
But it's gonna be water under the bridge
I keep on rolling
You gave my heart a real beating
I bet you think it's still bleeding
Deep inside I know I'm better than that
Best foot forward something's pulling it back
What's all that for
Well, I don't know
What could've been
Just let it go
Cause it's gonna be water under the bridge
I keep on rolling
I keep on rolling
I keep on rolling
The lyrics to The New Madness's song Better Than That, talks about heartbreak and the aftermath of it. In the opening lines of the song, the singer confesses that his/her heart has been broken, but still has the spirit to keep on living. However, the singer is still trying to come to terms with the situation and is stuck in a moment of anger and regret. There are moments where the singer seems to be filled with rage and would lash out at the person who caused the heartbreak, while the other person in the relationship always carried a smile.
As the song progresses, the singer understands that it doesn't matter what could have been and it's time to let go of the past. The lyrics “water under the bridge” signifies a metaphorical washing away of the past and starting anew. The singer, despite feeling hurt and anger, acknowledges that they are better than that and will keep moving forward. The line “best foot forward, something’s pulling it back” represents the fear of being hurt again, but the singer is determined to keep trying.
In conclusion, The New Madness's song Better Than That is all about moving on from heartbreak and doing better. It reflects the universal feeling of being hurt and the difficulty of letting go, but the eventual realization that one is capable of more than what they might feel in the moment.

Raising interests rates repeatedly helps nothing. Food prices are insane and it's still not available half the time at the stores.
@msromike123
Actually raising interest rates does exactly what they say it does. It lowers or at least tamps down inflation. Are you making an anecdotal observation?
@NoName-or4vm
Raising rates is the medicine we need to take. The problem is that the Fed is STILL doing QE which is only offsetting the effects of the rate hikes and offsetting the QT they’ve been doing for awhile now. They don’t know wtf they’re doing.
@rayrussell6258
only because interest rates haven't been raised far enough yet. When all the excess cash in the money supply is absorbed by 15% interest rates like we saw in Carter's Presidency, will we see another repeat of the Reagan years that put a stop to the price increase non-sense, and set the stage for 2 decades of solid economies.

This regime is stalling. With all that’s happening on the world forum . This is all part of the plan but they would never admit it.

I'm really worried about the current bank crisis. If a bank as big as SVB could fail, I fear for a lot more. I know a friend who is running a high-growth startup, and was badly hit by the bank run. I have pulled out more than $340k from my bank. After all, the FDIC covers only up to$250,000, and the implosion could have bad effect. Looking to invest into the stock market now. Does anyone know how I could go about it?
