A year later, with a stock of catchy synth-pop tunes, they set off as support band for GARY NUMAN, on his 'Emotion' tour. This was a great acheivement and a dream come true. Thanks to Gary they gained a lot of experience and followers. The lads had their first insight into the world that was previously out of reach. The following year had them supporting Gary again on his 'Isolate' tour in March, again they were well received.
This led to regular gigs in and around London playing to an ever increasing audience and the appearence of guitarist Pete Steer ('Shockwork' and 'En'fame).
Still as GLASSHOUSE the band continued writing and gigging until August of '96 when Pete left the band to persue his own musical direction. Now was the time for change.
Geoff and Ian felt that GLASSHOUSE had exhausted itself and decided to start a fresh with a new name and a different attitude towards their music.
THE NINE was born and so was a new, refreshing sound, still with the influence of the 80's but in a more contemporary style.
Their change of attitude led them to signing with the popular synth-pop label A DIFFERENT DRUM, based in Provo, Utah, giving the band the chance to reach a much wider audience, taking them into America and Europe. The debut album 'Native Anger', released in 1998, firmly established them in the scene as credible songwriters.
In 2000 they recruited Neil Dansey, who, as well as a guitarist, contributed to the writing process pushing their sound further. The fruits of which resulted in another successful release - 'Dreamland' - proof that The Nine weren't afraid to experiment with their musical style and still give their audience what they've grown to expect.
After much thought it has been decided in 2006 that The Nine should now be considered a past project with 'SHOUT!'(a cover version of an early Depeche Mode B-side) being the last noise from the band all energies are to be focussed on Alien Six, the new project.

You gave me life and then you fucking derailed it
Spent like six whole bands tryna make you jealous
I gave that up when you didn't even notice
D- do you miss me?
Babe do you miss me too?
I been thinking
Yeah, i been thinking of you
Yeah, wanna sink into you
But you been missing
Yeah, hope you're loving the view
And i won't find you down in the garden
Changing the margin
Everything you said to me was mildly alarming
Sorry
I could never ever be
Your prince charming, darling
And the wolves in the garden
They hunt you for your heart and your wallet
Tears falling down my cheek like it's a faucet
Faded every night like a ghost, yeah i'm haunted
Maybe that's a sign cause baby i'm exhausted
D- do you miss me?
Babe do you miss me too?
I been thinking
Yeah, i been thinking of you
I wanna sink in
Yeah, wanna sink into you
But you been missing
Yeah, hope you're loving the view
So you need fixing?
Yeah, i need fixing too
You'll be fine at night
When he's kissing on you
And i'll die at night
Sick of thinking of you
Forget how i sang
Oh so softly
To the tune of
Your sweet heartache
Did i let you down?
Shame on me now
But you let me drown
Shame on you now
These chains are heavy
You think i'm crazy
I'm so damn angry
My heart's too heavy
The lyrics of the song "Haunted" by The Nine is all about a broken relationship. The singer has been waiting for three months for the person he is addressing in the song to vanish from his life. He is hurt because that person gave him life, but then that person ruined everything. The singer has spent a considerable amount of money trying to make that person jealous but gave up because that person did not even notice the efforts. The singer misses the person he is addressing in the song and wants to sink back into that person's life. However, that person seems not to be missing the singer and is probably enjoying the view with someone else. The song is about love, heartbreak, and missing someone you cannot be with.
The song's lyrics speak of shattered love and give an insight into the intense feelings of the singer towards someone who no longer reciprocates. The singer laments on how they cannot be the person that their lover needs, and how they are haunted by the memories of their past relationship. The singer talks metaphorically about wolves in the garden who hunt for the person's heart and wallet. The last lines of the song are particularly evocative when the singer talks about the heaviness of his heart and how it is making him angry. The mood of the song is somber, melancholic, and painfully raw.
