When this song came out I was in a relationship with the girl I thought I was going to marry — something I’d never wanted with anyone before. A few months later she left me. This song hits very differently now. I think I get what it means: once you’ve let somebody in that completely and fully and shown them all your flaws and vulnerabilities, and then you get burned, it’s really hard to let someone in that much again. It’s tough to come back from at all.

Funny how even once you get over somebody (as I have with her) the memory still hurts like hell.
