House
The Octobers Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

By the way
By you side I'll stay
If that's okay
Then by your side I'll stay forever
Here I'm standing up
Because I want to fall in love with you

A sunless day
It was a clumsy card house rape
If that's okay
Then by your side I'll stay forever

Here I'm standing up
Because I want to fall in love
Forever...
Here I'm standing up
Because I want to fall

All our kinds will play.
A sunless day.
The rain will come.
The rain always brings our heroes.
All our kids will play.
A sunless day.
The rain will come.
The rain always brings our heroes.

Believe in heroes.

By the way
By you side I stay
If that's okay

Then by your side I'll stay forever
Yeah, I said forever

Overall Meaning

The Octobers’s song “House” is a contemplative piece about committing to a lifelong partnership. The persona tells their partner that they want to stay by their side forever, indicating their willingness to always stand with them through all situations. The opening lines, “By the way, By you side I'll stay/If that's okay/Then by your side I'll stay forever,” indicate that the persona has made a decision to stay with their partner and seeks their approval. The persona chooses to stand up and states “Here I'm standing up/Because I want to fall in love with you.” This suggests their willingness to take a chance and commit to a long-lasting relationship, despite any potential uncertainties.

The lines, “A sunless day/It was a clumsy card house rape,” are unsettling and contrasting to the earlier sentiment, hinting at a troubled past. However, despite this, the persona is willing to commit to their partner indefinitely. “All our kids will play” and “The rain always brings our heroes” are the chorus that is woven through the song. It seems to suggest that even amidst darker days, brighter days will always follow, heralding the arrival of heroes to guide and motivate them.

In conclusion, The Octobers’ songs “House” communicates a message of unwavering commitment and love. It encourages taking a chance to stand by someone's side forever, despite the challenges and difficulties that may arise. The song's slow tempo combined with the dreamy flair of the guitar arrangement only emphasizes the persona's sincerity and deep feelings towards their loved one.

HERE'S MY REVIEW ON THE MOVIE:
So I watched it alone late at night, and it got me fairly creeped out. I'm a total horror movie fanatic, and don't get scared too easily by horror movie anymore, so the fact that I got a bit chilled says something. As for the story, it was actually pretty interesting and quite original in my opinion. A group of people go around the US looking for the scariest haunted house attractions that they can find-- one of which called "The Blue Skeleton" where supposedly the workers can do just about anything short of killing you. It's described as a real ''backwoods-under-the-radar experience''. Well they so end up finding it. Although a good portion of this movie is pretty good, the ending was extremely unsatisfying.

SPOILER:

They find The Blue Skeleton, get chased around the house for awhile, and basically get burried alive and that's the end of the movie.

I'd say that this movie is still worth checking out though. It's definitely an interesting, original story, and one of ther better horror movies on Netflix. Thanks for reading<3
