Along with fellow California punk bands Green Day and Rancid, The Offspring have been credited with reviving mainstream interest in punk rock in the United States during the mid-1990s. To date, The Offspring has released eight studio albums, one compilation, four EPs and three DVDs. They have sold over 34 million albums worldwide, making them one of the best-selling punk rock acts of all time. Each album since the release of their 1994 album Smash has sold over a million units.
Since the release of Smash, which is the best-selling independent label album of all time, The Offspring has achieved commercial success over five albums, with singles such as "Come Out and Play", and "Self Esteem". The band’s next three albums, Ixnay on the Hombre, Americana and Conspiracy of One, were also successful, with Ixnay on the Hombre and Conspiracy of One reaching platinum certification, and Americana achieving multi-platinum status. Longtime drummer Ron Welty left The Offspring in early 2003, and was replaced by Atom Willard. Later that year, the band released their next album, Splinter, to moderate sales and fairly warm reviews. In 2005, The Offspring released a greatest hits album and toured in support of the compilation. Their eighth studio album, Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace, was released on June 17, 2008 with the hit singles "You’re Gonna Go Far, Kid" and "Hammerhead."
Days Go By is the band’s ninth studio album and is due to be released on June 26, 2012. The Days Go By Songfacts reports that the title track was released as the first single and was premiered on KROQ on April 27, 2012.
2. Offspring was a short-lived English pop duo of the early 1970s, consisting of Mike Brayn and John Howard, who met at Hurstpierpoint College in Sussex, United Kingdom. They released just one single, 'Windfall' (1972). Their planned studio album was never completed.
Why Don't You Get A Job?
The Offspring Lyrics

Man, he hates that bitch
He tells me every day
He says, "Man, I really gotta lose my chick
In the worst kind of way"
She sits on her ass
He works his hands to the bone
But she wants more dinero just to stay at home
Well, my friend
You gotta say
I won't pay, I won't pay, no way
Na-na, why don't you get a job?
Say no way, say no way, no way
Na-na, why don't you get a job?
I guess all his money, well, it isn't enough
To keep her bill collectors at bay
I guess all his money, well, it isn't enough
'Cause that girl's got expensive taste
I won't pay, I won't pay, no way
Na-na, why don't you get a job?
Say no way, say no way, no way
Na-na, why don't you get a job?
Well, I guess it ain't easy doing nothing at all, oh yeah
But hey, man, free rides just don't come along
Every day (let me tell you about my other friend now)
My friend's got a boyfriend, man, she hates that dick (this guy)
She tells me every day (woo, every day now)
He wants more dinero just to stay at home
Well, my friend
You gotta say (gotta say)
I won't pay, I won't pay, no way
Na-na, why don't you get a job?
Say no way, say no way, no way
Na-na, why don't you get a job? (Oh yeah)
I won't give you no money, I always pay (no money)
Na-na, why don't you get a job? (Get a job)
Say no way, say no way, no way
Na-na, why don't you get a job?
Hey, that's something everyone can enjoy
In The Offspring's song Why Don't You Get a Job?, the singer's friend has a girlfriend who he hates because she does not work but expects him to pay for everything. The girlfriend is lazy and wants more money to stay at home, while the friend works hard to earn the money to support her. The singer tells his friend that he needs to stand up for himself and tell his girlfriend that she needs to get a job and contribute to the relationship financially. The singer also mentions another friend with a similar situation, but this time it is the singer's female friend who has a boyfriend who expects her to pay for everything.
The song is a commentary on the issue of mooching and laziness in relationships. It criticizes the idea that one person can be expected to support another without any contribution from the other person. The chorus, "Why don't you get a job?" is a direct challenge to the lazy girlfriends and boyfriends in the song, urging them to take responsibility for themselves and contribute to the relationship.
