For The Orwells, Remember When will be an introduction of sorts—the 12-track rat-race shows the band’s repertoire of pranging riffs and sneering, snot-nosed vocals. The tracks are a walloping war-cry from a generation that up until this point has only offered bubblegum pop—the animus of The Orwells. It’s quite clear early on the in listening to the LP that the band is well aware of the past, the homage rings through the record, using the ghost of punk’s past as their musical sprit guide. However, the band straddles the thin line between their influences and their originality, ripping riffs and smashing drums in a fashion that their age into being just another fact mentioned in their bio.

They Put A Body In The Bayou
The Orwells Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
He really gets me down
Take off that plastic Crown
Coke nose and a pretty sound
Alright make it quick
Good songs make you rich
That feelin' it'll pass
Bad Girl by my side poppin' pills on the fly
Don't breathe when I die
I came by to see you
I just had to know
Who put the body in the bayou
Who left the tracks on the road
Told me act your age
That's why she's underage
Said her papa hates the Federal Aids(?) and
When he drinks too much he smacks her face
Alright make it quick
Good songs make you rich
That feelin' it'll pass
Good boys come in last
Bad Girl by my side poppin' pills on the fly
Don't breathe when I die
I came by to see you
I just had to know
Who put the body in the bayou
Who left the tracks on the road
I came by to see you
I just had to know
Who put the body in the bayou
Who left the tracks on the road
The Orwells's song "They Put a Body In the Bayou" is a punk rock anthem that features fast-paced drum beats and the raw, emotional vocals of lead singer Mario Cuomo. The lyrics are ambiguous and open to interpretation, but they seem to be about a rebellious young couple who are caught up in dangerous and illegal activities. The opening lines, "They never came to town, He really gets me down, Take off that plastic crown, Coke nose and a pretty sound," are suggestive of a wild, drug-fueled lifestyle. The chorus, "I came by to see you, I just had to know, Who put the body in the bayou, Who left the tracks on the road," suggests that the couple is either trying to solve a mystery or trying to avoid getting caught for a crime they committed.
The song's lyrics are full of contradictions and paradoxes. The lines "Alright make it quick, Good songs make you rich, That feelin' it'll pass, Good boys come in last" suggest that the band is simultaneously embracing and critiquing the music industry. The lines "Bad Girl by my side poppin' pills on the fly, Don't breathe when I die" suggest that the couple is reckless and self-destructive, but also deeply in love.
The song is a commentary on the dark, seedy underside of youth culture, where rebellion is glorified but often leads to tragedy. The Orwells present a vivid, visceral portrait of this world, using rapid-fire lyrics and intense instrumentation to create a sense of urgency and danger.

I really don't understand why this isn't more popular. I've listened to a lot of rock songs in my life and this is up there in quality.

Mysterion This song was out a while before the allegations and it didn’t have much traction then. I wouldn’t blame what they did on how the song performed, I think it just wasn’t one of their best
@echoraphe6846
Because "rocknroll" died. They lied. They're are no "new rock" out there on the FM dial. (C)RAP is all the record companies are signing to contracts. That's why. Rock is truly on life support. It's like a night mare that won't quit. I now know how my Pop felt when rock took off in the 80's-00's. He was lost like I am now.
