And your mama said, that we won't make it through
The way they talk about our love, it just ain't fair
As long as I've got you with me, I just don't care
I wanna tell you that I've never felt a love like this before,
I've got a feeling taking over me and I'm 'bout to lose control
Don't leave me hanging out by the phone
I said call me (call me up)
Baby you're the one that I want
Ain't nobody on the other line
Why oh why you wanna waste my time?
Just call me, (call me up) just call me up baby tonight
Yeah eh yeah
All I wanna do is to hold you tight
And if loving you is wrong, I don't wanna be right.
The way they talk about our love, it just ain't fair
As long as I've got you with me (I just don't care)
I wanna tell you that I've never felt a love like this before,
I've got this feeling taking over me and I'm 'bout to lose control
Won't you Just call me (call me up)
Don't leave me hanging out by the phone
I said call me (call me up)
Baby you're the one that I want
Ain't nobody on the other line
Why oh why you wanna waste my time?
Just call me, (call me up) just call me up baby tonight
If you're looking for a good time baby, just call me up?
I know you're looking for a good time, just call me up?
(I know you're looking for a good time, good time, good time, baby)
If you're looking for a good time baby, just call me up?
(I know you're looking for a good time, good time, good time, baby)
I know you're looking for a good time, just call me up?
I wanna tell you that I've never felt a love like this before,
I've got this feeling taking over me and I'm bound to lose control
Won't you just call me (call me up)
Don't leave me hanging out by the phone
I said call me (call me up)
Baby you're the one that I want
Ain't nobody on the other line
Why oh why you wanna waste my time?
Just call me, (call me up) just call me up baby tonight
I wanna tell you that I've never felt a love like this before,
I've got this feeling taking over me and I'm bound to lose control
So just call me, yeah yeah, baby just, baby just, yeah, baby tonight
The lyrics to The Overtones' song "Call Me Up" talks about the singer's desire for the person they love to call them up. The song begins by highlighting how the singer's family members and friends do not approve of their love for each other. They believe that the singer is not good for their partner, and their love won't last. However, despite what they say, the singer keeps holding on to their love and does not care about what others say.
The chorus of the song confirms the singer's feelings that the person they love is the one they want. They are waiting for a call and do not want to be left hanging by the phone. The singer urges the person they love to call them up and not waste their time. The song's lyrics suggest a sense of longing and desire for the other person to reciprocate their love. The chorus repeats, and the song ends with the singer asking the person they love to call them up tonight.
The song's lyrics express a universal feeling of wanting someone to love us back and the frustration that comes with playing the waiting game. It highlights the struggle of love that is not always accepted by society and the desire to hold on to one's love despite opposition.
