During the next several years they played throughout the Mid-West and received airplay on college radio stations throughout the US, Canada and Europe. They released a second cassette, a four song 7”, an 18 song CD in addition to appearing on over 25 compilation CD’s, 7”s and cassettes.
By 1993 The Oxymorons had logged tens of thousands of miles of road time and opened or headlined with such bands as Fugazi, The Dead Milkmen, Green Day, No Means No, Coffin Break, Big Wheel, Local H, Screeching Weasel, Scrawl and The Toll. Taking the clue that all bands should die before they suck, the Oxymorons went into a coma in late 1994. Patrick formed ColaVision (after being in Planet Ed while the Oxy’s were still together) and Nick and Ben formed Candyass. Grog remained doing his label, zine and other miscellaneous projects.
In 1997 there was talk of reuniting and doing a few more shows before the tragic death of Ben Schelker. Nick was recently in the band Irish Leo and Patrick was in the duo The Vectors, Grog runs the ChickenFish Speaks review e-Zine and various other lost causes.
Peace Song
The Oxymorons Lyrics

In a world where everything is pure
I wish I was a little boy
With no worries at all
Oh yeah, with no worries at all
I want to be
Everything you see
You bring it back to the innocence
Since I
I remember when
When everything made so much sense
And just watching things turning around me
I want to be
Everything you see
Inside your brain
You bring it back to the innocence
I wish I was a little boy
With no worries at all
I want to be
Everything you see
Inside your brain
You bring it back to the innocence
In a sense I might be
I might be a little crazy
Oh
I want to be
Everything you see
Inside your brain
Inside your brain
Oh Oh Oh
You bring it back
You bring it back to the innocence
In a sense
It's all gonna be over in a quick minute
Yeah yeah
The lyrics to The Oxymorons' song Peace Song speak to a yearning for simplicity, innocence, and purity in a world that can feel complex, confusing, and corrupt. The singer expresses a desire to live in a state of mind rather than a physical place, where everything is pure and free from worry. This dream is further illustrated by the wish to be a little boy again, with no responsibilities and a carefree existence. The singer sees the world turning around them, suggesting a loss of control or stability, but wants to hold onto the feeling of understanding that once existed.
The chorus repeats the desire to be "everything you see inside your brain," to bring back the innocence that has been lost. The singer recognizes that this desire may seem crazy, but it is a longing for a simpler and more peaceful way of life. The final lines of the song suggest that life is fleeting and that this desire for purity and innocence is something that can only be experienced for a brief moment.
Overall, Peace Song is a poignant and wistful reflection on the transitory nature of life and the human desire for simplicity and purity. It speaks to a universal longing for a world that is free from anxiety, complexity, and corruption.
