Mind Games
The Palisades Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

There was a time I would've given my life
For another day with your touch
Never quite added up
The way you made such a fuss
About nothing at all

I thought you were crazy in love
But you were just crazy oh oh
I was pushed to the edge
Cleaning somebody's mess
Well never again will I let you
Fuck with my head
Well never again will I let you
Fuck with my head

I thought you were crazy in love
But you were just crazy oh oh
I was pushed to the edge
Cleaning somebody's mess
Well never again will I let you
Fuck with my head

From the girls to the government
Your boy Champs see the world on some other shit
Scotty gotta beam me up to the mother ship
I'm runnin' undercover but I'm one of them runnin' it
And I'm wonderin' if this is not just another fake slumber from which I will arise
I am a problem, a threat and a virus in the eyes of your government, eyes of your god
You could say what you really want
No
You could say but you really won't know
You could say what you really want
But you really won't
Cuz you really don't know

You had me going
Without a warning
You turned into someone else
Maybe I was blind
Couldn't see all the signs
But now I see so damn clear

I thought you were crazy in love
But you were just crazy oh oh
I was pushed to the edge
Cleaning somebody's mess

Well never again will I let you
Fuck with my head

Overall Meaning

The song "Mind Games" by The Palisades talks about the aftermath of a toxic and unhealthy relationship. The lyrics reveal the struggles and confusion involved in a volatile relationship, where one person gives everything while the other person takes advantage of them. The opening lines of the song, "There was a time I would've given my life/For another day with your touch" shows how the singer used to center their entire life around this person, but as the relationship progresses, the other person's irrational behavior and manipulations start to take a heavy toll on the singer. The chorus, "I thought you were crazy in love/But you were just crazy," depicts the realization that the person the singer loved and trusted was not who they thought they were.

The second half of the song introduces a rap verse that talks about the singer's frustration with society and their government. The line, "I am a problem, a threat, and a virus in the eyes of your government, eyes of your god," shows how the singer feels oppressed by those in power, and how they feel marginalized and misunderstood. The final verse, "You had me going/Without a warning/You turned into someone else" describes how the singer was blindsided by the sudden change in the other person's behavior. However, the final lyrics emphasize the importance of never letting someone manipulate and control you again.

It's 2023 and I miss this kind of music. So I still keep Palisades on my list 😌🎶 its like when you want to headbang but dance in some beat drops at the same time 🔥

@aleahfrazier9138

I met this band at Warped last year. They are so incredibly nice. We had a good chat about anime too. I don't see why people don't like them. This is such a cool way to mix together different genres of music. But we all have different tastes in music. Annnddd Janice Griffith is in this video? Nice.

@prxphet5330

she's hot as fuck

@aleahfrazier9138

Zack Watson Agreed. Hot as fuck.

@Chizuru94

So they really are into Japanese (and anime?) Awesome. Love that they sometimes write their name in Katakana.

@amjadalkiswani1995

@@aleahfrazier9138 unfortunately still didn't meet them personally but couldn't agree more. 👏🏻❤

@VoidAthyna

I also saw them at warped tour 2015 in Orlando, and this song was even better live

It's perfect the way the poppy vocals contrast with the breakdown in the end

People are so close minded, this song is dope! (I've been following these guys since they released their first EP, they've got balls to be able to change their sound so much.)
