The band has swollen to as many as eight members at times. The sounds are complex psychedelic deconstructions and fantasy reconstructions of techno, house and coldwave electro. The Penetralia focuses on live performance; recordings and commodity items such as cassettes and CDs exist only as souvenirs of the live show, and should not be considered fetishes around which the libidinal energy of the Penetralia is organized. The Penetralia is based in North Florida at the moment, but hails from the province of Iterandria. The “penetralia” of any given architectural structure is its innermost chamber; the secret “holy of holies” at the center of a temple or church. The Penetralia are in the process of creating a new pantheon of gods and monsters using the alchemical tools of analog and digital synthesis.
