The Pillows Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Overall Meaning

The Pillows's song (Kono Mama Koko de) talks about the feeling of being stuck in a situation where there are things left unsaid between two people. The lyrics show the frustration of not being able to communicate properly and feeling like there is a wall between the two individuals. The singer admits that there were things that he wanted to say, but he couldn't because the other person wouldn't listen to his excuses. However, he also understands that what they had together was just a fleeting moment, and they will eventually move past each other.

The chorus of the song emphasizes the singer's decision to not speak up anymore and keep everything to himself. He declares that he won't smile, won't make jokes, and won't show his feelings anymore. He will just stay as he is, in that place. The second verse talks about the other person involved, and how there were also things that they wanted to say, but the barrier between them stopped them from doing so. The singer then decides that it doesn't matter anymore and that he will forget everything and let the other person be who they are, wherever they are.

Overall, the song portrays the frustrations and painful realization of not being able to communicate one's feelings to someone they care about. It shows how destructive it can be to keep things bottled up inside and not speaking one's mind. The song has a melancholic feel to it, but it also has a sense of acceptance and resignation to what is.

I LOVE the tip of the hat to Minutemen by ending Walking On The Spiral with the ending of Corona!!!!

John McIntosh Doesn’t sound anything like it. But it’s cool you know of The Minutemen. Mike Watt is a great guy, local legend and I’ve played with one of his bands.

Sigh. Listen to the end of the pillows song Walking On the Spiral, and the Minutemen song Corona. To non fans, Corona is known as the Jackass theme
