Let It Go
The Plot in You Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

From walking home and talking loads
To seeing shows in evening clothes with you
From nervous touch and getting drunk
To staying up and waking up with you
Now we're sleeping near the edge
Holding something we don't need
All this delusion in our heads is gonna bring us to our knees
So come on, let it go
Just let it be
Why don't you be you, and I'll be me?
Everything that's broke
Leave it to the breeze
Why don't you be you, and I'll be me?
And I'll be me
From throwing clothes across the floor
To teeth and claws and slamming doors at you
If this is all we're living for
Why are we doing it, doing it, doing it anymore?
I used to recognize myself
Funny how reflections change
When we're becoming something else
I think it's time we walk away
So come on, let it go
Just let it be
Why don't you be you, and I'll be me?
Everything that's broke
Leave it to the breeze
Why don't you be you, and I'll be me?
And I'll be me
Tryna fit your hand inside of mine
When we know it just don't belong
No force on earth could make it feel right, no no
Tryna push this problem up the hill
When it's just too heavy to hold
I think now's the time to let it slide
So come on, let it go
Just let it be
Why don't you be you, and I'll be me?
Everything that's broke
Leave it to the breeze
Let the ashes fall
Forget about me
Come on, let it go
Just let it be

Why don't you be you, and I'll be me?
And I'll be me

Overall Meaning

The song "Let It Go" by The Plot in You talks about a failing relationship that the two involved parties are still trying to hold onto. The beginning of the song starts by reminiscing about the good times they had at the start of their relationship. They used to do everything together and they were happy. However, as time went on, their relationship started to crumble, and they found themselves holding onto something that they don't need, which is the delusion that they can still make it work".

The chorus of the song suggests that they should let go of what's not working. They should just be themselves and allow the other person to be themselves too. The persona in the song acknowledges the fact that the relationship is broken and advises that they should "leave it to the breeze," meaning they should forget about trying to fix what's not working.

In the last verse, the persona recognizes that they have been trying to force something that does not belong. They have been trying to push a problem that is just too heavy to hold, and it's time to let it go. It's better for both parties to walk away and start anew.

Magali Lopez

I love the slight rasp in his voice. Executed the song perfectly. Wouldn't expect less from Landon.

This song is close to the original but taking TPIY into consideration, it was wild to hear them stuck to clean vocals only. I was happy it didn't fall into the category of songs that tries to add a breakdown after each chorus. This was my favorite (and I low-key love it a tad more than the original.)

Corey Beavers

Listen to take me away acoustic then. Thats a great one.

classof11shay If you like this then you'd definitely like Landon's solo work!
