Goldmine
The Pointer Sisters Lyrics

Girl's got a goldmine and he's so fine
Girl's got a goldmine and he's all mine
Baby's got a goldmine, treats me so kind
Loves me rain or shine
My baby's divine

Flowers arrive
Who else would think of that but my guy
He's all heart and all mine
Oh, and I don't have to be miss perfect one
For him to love what he sees
I can feel it in the little things he does
What I found is every woman's dream

My baby, he's a goldmine
Oh, what he does just keeps my heart in love
My baby, he's a goldmine
Oh, all he does just keeps me here in love
Keeps me right here in love

Five times a day
He calls me up to say, "how ya doin' baby"
He's just that way
Leaves me little notes by my coffee cup
The sweetest poetry to me
Oh and every night he tells me with his touch
The way he moves just makes me want to scream

My baby, he's a goldmine
Oh, what he does just keeps my heart in love
My baby, he's a goldmine
Oh, all he does just keeps me so in love
Keeps me, right here in love
Right here in love

His eyes were fire, my heart was cold
My arms were ready for new love to hold
He makes me feel something that I've never known
When you find someone like him, you don't let go

Girl's got a goldmine and he's so fine
Girl's got a goldmine and he's all mine
Baby's got a goldmine, treats me so kind
Loves me rain or shine
My baby's divine

Yeah, yeah, yeah (ooh ooh ooh)
Oh yeah

Oh, I can feel it in the little things that he does
What I found is every woman's dream

My baby he's a goldmine
And oh, what he does just keeps me here in love
My baby he's a goldmine
Oh, what he does just keeps me here,
Keeps me here in love
My baby he's a goldmine
He treats me kind
Rain or shine
Ooh ooh
My baby he's a goldmine
Baby, baby, baby, baby, oh baby
My baby he's a goldmine
Your eyes, your hair

Your lips, your nose,
Baby, your toes

Overall Meaning

The Pointer Sisters' song Goldmine is a tribute to a special and unique kind of relationship where the partner is regarded as a source of wealth and happiness, hence, the reference to "goldmine." The lyrics describe the singer's happiness in a relationship where she is cherished, loved, and cared for. She refers to her partner as a "goldmine" because he provides her with emotional stability and support that makes her feel rich and fulfilled. The man is described as kind, loving, and always in touch, which makes her feel special and valued.

The singer highlights how her partner pays attention to her needs and affections by buying her flowers, leaving little notes, and checking up on her five times a day, with such little acts of love that make her feel adored. The lyrics show that the artist values the small gestures of love, and that is what counts most to her. The singer also asserts that her partner's love doesn't depend on her being the perfect person, but she is valued just the way she is, and she feels very happy to be with him.

In summary, Goldmine is a song about true love and affection that doesn't depend on material wealth but rather emotional wealth.

The Pointer sisters was a my first girl crush! I am a full on lesbian thank to Anita Pointer! Lol Black women in the 80s and 90s were freaking naturally beautiful!

@naynay5728

Anita Pointer was highly attractive whew. And she just oozed natural sex appeal.

@deanjosefmartell701

hahaha i am a gay guy too and Miss Anita was always my favorite Sister although i did'nt look @ her as you did (which is no problem) i was groovin" to her voice as YES WE CAN CAN is still my favorite song (pointer sister version Anita Lead Vocals) in 2024 + she sang lead on How Long (Betcha' Gotta Chick ON The Side) actually i read her book "the pointer sisters story fairytale" and she stated that she did most of the lead vocals (on album filler tracks) as we know both June & Ruth sang lead on many of their hit songs. @all4one06

June Pointerโ€™s distinctive vocal delivery here is supremely powerful! She certainly knew how to put a๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿพpunch into a Pointer Sister song! ๐ŸŽถ โ€”RIP June & Anita๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

@joelara4779

Junes voice is so powerful.

"Hot Together" was such a good album, one that never got the recognition it deserved. The Pointer Sisters are one of the most talented vocal groups ever, male or female. The quality of their output remained phenomenally consistent through their lengthy career. Each album they recorded was simply loaded with amazing songs, whether they were released as singles or not. Anita, Ruth and June each had their own distinctive vocal style, which zoomed to the stratosphere when they sang together. Their music will ALWAYS hold a super special place in my heart.

@jeffcubeta

I totally agree. "Taste" should have been a top 5 hit, easy.

@Cicilo1983

@@jeffcubeta Right on ! A hidden gem in their catalogue, something that could have been on "Break Out".

@larrypucillo1218

"Set me free" also!

@Faltor895

I don't know, what I've heard from Right Rhythm hasn't exactly wowed me
