Trinity
The Prestige Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

So time to be clever, before the wind changes its way
After a few doubts and uncertainties, I'll scream loud, and act proud.
Then it all made sense from here, since I saw where the colors did not match
Needless to say I'm poised to live; needless to say I jumped the edge

I wish for better times, I wish for better days,
A time I won't be stuck in a constant gaze
The glow and light from the bombs seems never ending

At the center of division, where the secrets lie deep
All consequences keep running through my mind
But too much of myself keeps trying to explain

Vacuumed and pushed through everything; the never ending fires
I'm packing my guns here, leaving for the big city.
I'll be painting a new chapter that'll bloom in a boom
And I have plan for later, nothing will end real soon.
So it's time to be clever, before the wind changes its way,
After a few doubts, I'll scream loud and act proud.

I wish for better times, I wish for better days,
A time I won't be stuck in a constant gaze
The glow and light from the bombs seems never ending

I don't think I could stop and enjoy this scenery
The circle never really stops

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Trinity" by The Prestige convey a sense of urgency and a desire for change. The singer expresses a need to be smart and proactive before it's too late, as if they sense that something significant is about to happen. They acknowledge that they have some doubts and uncertainties, but they push them aside in order to move forward confidently. They have realized that some things don't match up or make sense, but they are poised to live regardless. The singer wishes for better times and days free from feeling stuck, but they also recognize the beauty and intensity of the light and fire that surrounds them. At the same time, they feel divided between their curiosity and their fear of consequences, and they struggle to find a way to reconcile these two parts of themselves. Ultimately, they decide to pack up and leave, confident that they can make a fresh start and create something new and exciting for themselves.

The song "Trinity" by The Prestige has an interesting origin story. It was written by the band's guitarist, Anup Sastry, who is also a well-known drummer, composer, and producer in his own right. Sastry's original demo of the song featured programmed drums and a synthesized orchestra, but when the band entered the studio to record their album, they decided to take a more organic approach, using the skills of drummer Jesse Shelley and keyboardist Eric Hess to flesh out the track. Despite this change, Sastry's complex guitar parts remained a key element of the song. The final version of "Trinity" was mixed and mastered by Jamie King, who has also worked with bands like Between the Buried and Me, The Contortionist, and Scale the Summit.
