Their debut single, I'm an Adult Now, quickly became a hit across Canada in 1986, sparked by a low-budget video which made it onto the Canadian music video channel MuchMusic. However, the band did not immediately sign to a record label, and released another independent single, Killed by Love, in 1988. The Amabile twins left the band that year, and were replaced by Kris Abbott and Leslie Stanwyck.
Also in 1988, they signed to Chrysalis Records. Their debut album, Love Junk, was produced by Todd Rundgren and released that year. "I'm an Adult Now" was re-recorded and released as a single again, making it to the charts a second time. The album sold over 100,000 copies in Canada, and was certified platinum, and is considered one of the classics of Canadian rock.
Stanwyck and Sinclair left, going on to form Universal Honey, after completing the band's follow-up with Rundgren, 1990's One-Sided Story.
Starting with the tour for the album, Brad Barker and Susan Murumets joined the lineup. Rachel Oldfield replaced Murumets in 1992. The band then went through difficulties with their record label, but signed to Mercury Records for 1993's The Downward Road.
Label troubles continued, and the band recorded their next two albums for the now-defunct Canadian label Iron Music. Oldfield left the band in 1995, and was replaced by Jennifer Foster, who in turn left the following year and was replaced by Renee Suchy.
Although the group never officially disbanded, after 1996 they did not record as a unit until 2005, when they recorded two new tracks for a greatest hits compilation.

The Pursuit Of Happiness Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
She's leading a brand new wave
That uniform that she wears
I see on the street every day
She looks heavenward
And struggles to find the right cliche
You've got to find your own space
She's so young
She's got the answers
She doesn't need to question herself like I do
She's so young
She's got the answers
She doesn't need to question the world like I do
Like the wisdom of ages
Will flow from her tongue
This is the delusion of the young
She says she'll lead with her heart
But her heart really doesn't know at all
I'll get no satisfaction
Out of seeing her fall
The Pursuit of Happiness's song She presents a comparison between the sense of confidence that comes with youth and the skepticism that experience can bring. The lyrics point out that young people often have a confidence that comes from a belief that they know everything, therefore they don't need to question themselves or the world the way an older, more jaded person would. The singer sees this kind of self-assurance in a young woman wearing a uniform, which he sees every day. The woman is aspirational in the sense that she appears to want to make a difference and lead with her heart. However, the singer is skeptical of her because he believes that her heart may not have all the answers that she believes it does. He doesn't want to see her fail, but he doesn't quite believe that her youthfulness will be enough to save her.
Throughout the song, there is an underlying sense of tension between the optimism of the young and the pessimism of the older generation. The older singer is envious of the woman's confidence, but he also knows that it may not be based in reality. The woman looks up to the sky trying to find the right cliche and trying to establish her individuality, but the older singer sees right through it. The song is both a reflection of the desire for youthfulness and the appreciation for the wisdom that comes with age.

This song was way ahead of its time. They sounded more like late 90s alternative. I had this song on repeat…i meant I rewound my cassette tape over and over.
