Figurehead
The Queenstons Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Does it tear you apart?
Does it rend you limb from limb?
Does it make you wonder,
What it's like not to lose but to win?
(X2)

And you go,
And you cry,
And you scream at the top of your lungs.
Dodging bullets,
Fired from burning guns.
And you run,
And you leap,
And you hold your arms out trying to fly.
Soaring through the clouds,
Soaring through the highest highs.

Forever still and unbending and unbreaking,
You are the figurehead, your life awaits.
Forever caught in the wind and the sleet and the rain,
You'll stay the course,
'Till the break of day.

Does it tear you apart?
Does it rend you limb from limb?
Does it make you wonder,
What it's like not to lose but to win?

Does it tear you apart?
Does it rend you limb from limb?
Does it make you wonder,
What it's like not-not-not-not

And you go, and you run. (x4)

Forever still and unbending and unbreaking,
You are the figurehead, your life awaits.
Forever caught in the wind and the sleet and the rain,

You'll stay the course,
'Till the break of day.

Overall Meaning

The Queenstons's song "Figurehead" speaks of a person who is determined to succeed despite facing multiple obstacles. The lyrics pose a series of questions, asking whether the challenges the singer is facing are breaking them apart, rendering them limb from limb, and making them wonder what it feels like to win. Despite this, they continue to push forward, dodging bullets and soaring through the clouds with their arms outstretched, attempting to fly. The singer is portrayed as a figurehead, standing tall and strong against wind, sleet, and rain, unwavering in their determination to reach their goals.

The song is a metaphor for the struggles we face in life, and our ability to overcome them. It represents a person's resilience in the face of adversity, and their unwillingness to let anything stand in the way of their success. The lyrics inspire listeners to keep going, no matter what obstacles they face, and to never give up on their dreams.

Hell i remember finding this album in high school, and diving into furries at 16, im 25 now. Told myself in Highschool i would never be a furry but the art and stuff was cool, but wouldnt degenerate into that. Big life OOF. but damn, has life been a ride, up and down, hope everyone elses has been just as an adventure!

@user-10021

For me it’s been the exact opposite, liked furries with 14 and now as adult I really hate them. They have some cool stuff, but it’s unfortunate that it’s drowned out.

I'm somewhere inbetween. I like the entry stuff like some art, Pokémon and shit and I draw a ton myself, but as soon as it gets too specific it scares me off. Especially the fursuits. And how openly horny a bunch of these folks are.
I'm not much better with how much I like medieval armor, but I like to tell myself I am :^)

@brokentoaster4231

@Bup I'm glad most of the furries I know are pretty cool people (who don't own fursuits)

To this day Figurehead is still probably the best album Emma has produced, everything about it just oozes style and quality. One of those albums I wish I could buy a full physical edition of just to have the cover-art on a sleeve that I could decorate my wall with. Not one uninspired track on the whole thing. The art of the statuettes oozing tar from their mouths like blood is so cool.

@gordonf5553

i agree wholeheartedly

@TempestBunny

I love the nostalgia. It's been so many years, but still so good.
