The Fire
The Racer Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Be my guide and show the way
I'm in the tide I can't escape

The first night we shared a bed
Your hands resting on my head
Better days you made me see
How you made me once believe
In the fire me

Thinking distance eases pain
We give in the easy way

So now we sleep in separate rooms
Deepen self-inflicted wounds
It feels like we're wasting time
Feel the questions grow inside
They'll be better days ahead

If only you could see
There's a fire in me

Overall Meaning

The Racer's "The Fire" is a song about a relationship that is on a downward spiral, with both parties experiencing confusion and frustration. The singer is lost and in need of guidance, which they seek from their partner. The first verse describes the singer's predicament, unable to escape the tide and needing direction. The second verse is a flashback to a time when things were better, and the partner was a source of inspiration and hope. However, distance brings discomfort, and the couple decides to sleep in separate rooms, which only deepens their issues. The final verse is the singer's plea for reconciliation, which is always hindered by the partner's inability to see the fire inside of them. This fire represents the singer's passion for life, their desire to overcome the obstacles in the relationship, and their hope for better days ahead.

The song's lyrics and melody evoke a sense of longing and emotion, which is enhanced by the band's use of rock instrumentation. The song's introspective quality puts The Racer firmly in the realm of indie rock, with a sound reminiscent of The National or Fleet Foxes. The song is a testament to the band's ability to explore personal emotions while conveying them to a larger audience. It is a song that anyone who has experienced the highs and lows of a relationship can relate to.

For anyone criticizing the prequels cgi, try and accomplish something this amazing on a 1999 potato computer

@randomguy8196 did you miss the entire cantina scenes?

My problem with the special effects in this movie is that they used to much CGI and to little of the practical effects. Kind of what they did to "The Hobbit" movies..

Terkzorr

tbh Episode 1 had some really amazing CGI and they utilized real sets. With Episode 2 and 3 Lucas became really lazy and it shows, those look worse than Gamecube/PS2 games.

Keep in mind that we got men on the moon with less computing power than what's in ur smrtfone.

As an 8 year old at the time, watching this in the cinema was the coolest thing ever and even now after over 20 years, it's still damn awesome.

I was 9.. It sounded like we were IN the pod race. That surround sound was dope in the 90s before we got used to it lol
