The name, The Raveonettes, is a direct reference to The Ronettes, and Buddy Holly's song Rave On!.
Their songs juxtapose the structural and chordal simplicity of 50s and 60s rock with intense electric instrumentation, driving beats and often dark lyrical content, similar to another of the band's influences, The Velvet Underground. Altogether, they sound very much like a slightly more melodic version of The Jesus and Mary Chain.

On April 4th, 2011, they released "Raven in the Grave", a nine-track studio album with Vice Records. It's their 5th studio album.
From their site bio:
“I think we have finally hit on something quite important and different for this album,” explains Sune. “This is the first Raveonettes album we've done which doesn't feature the signature Raveonettes surf drumbeat. None of the tunes have any real sunshine to them. It’s all very un-Rave.”
“It has a mood of ethereal defiance” Sharin adds. “It’s dark but not bleak, like the single minded determination caused by crisis that is not quite hope but just as powerful. It’s the perfect winter soundtrack just in time for spring”.

The lyrics to The Raveonettes's song I Wanna Be Adored speaks about the desire to be adored, to be loved and admired by others. The repetition of "I wanna be adored" reinforces the singer's longing for validation and appreciation from others. The lines "I don't have to sell my soul, he's already in me, I don't need to sell my soul, he's already in me" can be interpreted in different ways. Some suggest that the reference to selling one's soul could be about making compromises in one's values or beliefs in order to gain fame and admiration. Others suggest that it could refer to the idea that the divine or something greater than oneself resides within, and the singer does not need to make any kind of sacrifice to obtain love and attention.
The chorus, consisting only of the repeated phrase "I wanna be adored," emphasizes the yearning behind the lyrics. The singer wants the listener to understand the depth of their longing to be loved and admired, and how it consumes them. The repetition of the phrase also emphasizes the simplicity of this desire; there is no complicated backstory or unfulfilled dreams behind it, only a need for recognition and affection.
Overall, The Raveonettes's song I Wanna Be Adored explores the very human desire to be loved and appreciated, and the lengths people will go to achieve it.
