The name, The Raveonettes, is a direct reference to The Ronettes, and Buddy Holly's song Rave On!.
Their songs juxtapose the structural and chordal simplicity of 50s and 60s rock with intense electric instrumentation, driving beats and often dark lyrical content, similar to another of the band's influences, The Velvet Underground. Altogether, they sound very much like a slightly more melodic version of The Jesus and Mary Chain.

On April 4th, 2011, they released "Raven in the Grave", a nine-track studio album with Vice Records. It's their 5th studio album.
From their site bio:
“I think we have finally hit on something quite important and different for this album,” explains Sune. “This is the first Raveonettes album we've done which doesn't feature the signature Raveonettes surf drumbeat. None of the tunes have any real sunshine to them. It’s all very un-Rave.”
“It has a mood of ethereal defiance” Sharin adds. “It’s dark but not bleak, like the single minded determination caused by crisis that is not quite hope but just as powerful. It’s the perfect winter soundtrack just in time for spring”.

Gonna make me burn gonna make it right
Tell your little stories and I'll never hope
That I'll end up right beside you when it comes
I'm gonna make it good this hour
Make it true
Dancing on the stairs I'll never get back home
Do your little thing and then remember why
You chose me instead of someone else
Why don't you start right now I know you
Won't regret
The lyrics to The Raveonettes' song "Noisy Summer" reveal a sense of urgency and passion in the singer's desire for the person he is addressing. The first line refers to the image of the person chewing on a whip, which suggests a fetishistic and dominant inclination, and the following line implies that she is attractive and exciting enough to ignite a fire within him. The singer is aware that the woman may not reciprocate his feelings ("Tell your little stories and I'll never hope/That I'll end up right beside you when it comes"), but he is still determined to make the most of the moment and make it a memorable one ("I'm gonna make it good this hour/Make it true").
The second verse continues the theme of living in the present and cherishing the moment, as the singer sings about dancing on the stairs and getting lost in the passion of the moment ("Gonna laugh and smile gonna make me moan"). He is aware that the woman chose him over someone else, and he wants to make sure that she does not regret that decision ("Why don't you start right now I know you/Won't regret"). Overall, the lyrics convey a sense of desperation and intensity, as the singer expresses his deep desire and the need to live in the moment without any regrets.
