Hailing from the Redlands of Louisiana and Oklahoma, the name, Redland, represents much more than a geographical local. It is a concept representing a new paradigm in music. A movement born out of the soil; from the root. It is both a noun and an adjective. Redland is both a state of mind and a word that describes music that is not just heard but felt in the soul.
Reminiscent of a time when the art form was real, it came natural. An honest reflection of the times that was void of all the commercialization that characterizes the sounds of today. The Redland is a movement that is ushering in the little heard voices of change. The voices and lyrics in this instance are Earvin Legend and Kose, two former Morehouse College students who left school and responded to the pull, desire, and passion to create music that would fill the soul while keeping our heads bobbing.
With an acute appreciation of the intellectual messages behind the imperial musical innovators and revolutionaries from years gone by. The Redland transverse through hip-hop boundaries so that on any given song people from all walks of life can identify with the content.

Please believe that I ain't scared, I am prepared for whatever
I ain't intimidated by you imitators of realness
You know who you are so if you ain't true should feel this
Now real quick let's talk about today's news
Educated fools trying to educate you
Trying to get some knowledge just to find your way through
But the truth is so skew/obscure it's just what they do
Others travel the world tour but they don't mean nothing
And ain't judging but the point is that
You can even make a stand lying on your back
Now could you please keep my souls intact
So years after I'm gone y'all can play this back
And in the time I smile from the sky
Knowing we will never die
They say we're lost they call us insane
They don't know what we're fighting for
But they don't know we're living in pain
We ain't gonna take it no more
We won't cry 'cause we're gonna fight
And we gonna fight and we won't die
And we won't cry 'cause we're gonna fight
And we won't die, and we won't die
And we won't die
All I wanna say is that they don't give a damn
Unless they need more bodies to send to Afghanistan
Or Iraq or maybe even Iran
But not Darfur; what for?
Helping blacks ain't the plan
We only go to war for the corporations
Oil companies and the Halliburtons
Meanwhile they trample on the Constitution
'Cause politics is more like prostitution
Million dollar campaign contribution
I think it's 'bout time for a revolution
They manipulate our fears to cause confusion
Just look at their lack of concentration
On the problems with the health care and education
And long after my EKG goes flat line
I told in these rhymes I will never die
They say we're lost they call us insane
They don't know what we're fighting for
But they don't know we're living in pain
We ain't gonna take it no more
We won't cry 'cause we're gonna fight
And we gonna fight and we won't die
And we won't cry 'cause we're gonna fight
And we won't die, we won't die
And we won't die
See you could find us, ban us?, us
But we won't die we're like a couple highlanders
Immortals for the sci-fi illiterate
Found the youth in the booth
Can't get a sip of it
Band wagon filling up better get your ticket quick
Before the RedLand's deemed illegal by the Government
Cause we're some rebels pretty much just for the fun of it
Living life righteous baby and I am loving it
What is it for? These words we record
Every note every chord made for you to absorb
So be sure on stage on tour
You can feel the fours only of course
If the song's right we light the night from the dark
Despite what we're called we fight for the cause
Recite to the stars what's rightfully ours
They'll never take from us, what to take from us?
They say we're lost they call us insane
They don't know what we're fighting for
But they don't know we're living in pain
We ain't gonna take it no more
We won't cry 'cause we're gonna fight
And we gonna fight and we won't die
And we won't cry 'cause we're gonna fight
And we won't die, and we won't die
And we won't die
In "Epic" by The Redland's, the lyrics are all about standing up for what you believe in, even in the face of opposition. The song boldly declares that the singer is not intimidated by imitators or anyone trying to stand in their way. The song also comments on current events, stating that education can sometimes be misleading and painting a picture of a broken political system. Despite all of this, the singer is determined not to give up and is willing to fight for their beliefs, even if it means never giving up the fight.
The first part of the song declares that the singer is ready for whatever challenges may come their way. They are prepared for those who try to imitate them and those who try to lead them astray with misleading information. The song then points out that the truth can be hard to come by, as some people spend weeks trying to find it, while others tour the world but still don't truly understand it. The singer is urging listeners to remain true to themselves and to make a stand, even if it means lying on their back. They want their souls to remain intact so that their message can live on even after they're gone.
The second part of the song directly calls out the governmental system in America. The lyrics criticize the lack of focus on important issues like healthcare and education, instead of focusing on unnecessary wars for corporations. The singer points out that politics itself may be like prostitution if million-dollar campaign contributions are anything to go by. Despite all of this, they are determined to continue their fight for what they believe in, even if it means being called rebels or outlaws. The song ends with a determination to never give up the fight and to continue standing up for what is right.
