New comment, upon hearing of the death of HM, I just want to say to any Brit who comes across this video and my comment that I am deeply sorry for your loss.

Elizabeth II embodied grace, duty, and devotion to her country. She will be missed terribly by millions of Americans, I promise you that. I remember watching this broadcast the day it aired (17 yrs old) I cried then and each time I watch it.

She didn’t have to do this, but she did, and I’ll always love her for it.

As a Canadian I feel really a strong friendship with the United States. Our relationship with our neighbours to the South can be tempestuous sometimes LOL but we are true friends nevertheless— in fact I think we're family. The United States, Australia, United Kingdom, New Zealand and Canada are friends and always will be.

I've never been able to get through this video or let alone get through the whole thing without ever tearing up big time.

Anyone who saw that horrific scene of that second plane hitting the tower knows how horrible it felt to see our brethren in such horrible pain.

Anyone who seen family in some kind of terrible pain knows how terrible it is to feel so powerless to help.

When Her Majesty told the guards to play The Star Spangled Banner, it felt so reaffirming to know that we will march on with our friends in the United States of America. No one ever hurts our family ever and get away with it.

It is referred to as a 'request', but in actual fact it was an order as she was the Head of the Armed Forces.

Almost 21 years ago, the Queen of England was with Americans and the United States on our darkest day (9/11) and honored us by playing the National Anthem in front of Buckingham Palace. Today and for the time being, join me and many other Americans in returning the favor to England and it’s Royal Family. Long live the Queen and we stand together in honoring her legacy. As well as honoring all of the first responders and remembering all of the victims 21 years ago.

61 British citizens were also killed on September 11,th 2001. There is a special garden dedicated to those British citizens that were killed on that day in New York City. The Royal Family came to the United States and helped to dedicate it when it was officially opened. Next to the United States, Britain, lost the second largest number of citizens on 911.

My knowledge of the victors of the revolutionary war differ from yours because your country wouldn't eagerly teach the true outcome, and the country that won that war for you, but your historians know.

21 years later and after watching countless 9/11 documentaries, I am just now finding out about this. Absolutely brought tears to my eyes that Her Majesty honored us in one of our darkest moments. The guards played it so beautifully. I wish I could pay an honor to the queen as eloquently as this was to us, but I send my love and condolences to the queen and our brothers and sisters across the pond.

Calling my mother, my family, friends...before there were cell phones. For days after, we heard no airplanes in the sky...an eerie silence. The heartbreak was palpable, everywhere. People would just weep. I remember lying on my bed for hours staring at the ceiling imagining the poor souls who jumped from the towers, and the heroes who brought down the plane in Pennsylvania. The U.S. was united. 😒. Then we got into a terrible war based on lies....And now we're torn apart. This century has seen the slow demise of America I fear...😔😔

Feels appropriate to wait till the anniversary of this horrific in my country’s history, but I want my British friends to know how much we are sorry for your loss of such a beloved monarch. Her stoicism commanded respect and awe in a room, yet she was always open to a wicked sense of humor that made her so adored. She wasn’t our leader, nor are we a part of the Commonwealth that she held dearly, yet she showed her strength in being a rock of comfort for those stranded Americans in a time of anguish and confusion, demonstrating that her thoughts were with our country during our suffering.

Don’t know if we could ever extend such a powerful message of comfort like she has, but wanted our British friends to know that it felt like we too lost someone who was like a family. As an American I will forever be grateful to her for comforting my fellow Americans, and reminding us that the British do cate for us. God Bless QEII.

I remember being a 26 yr old - young policeman in London. On a rest day I went with my Italian girlfriend to proms in the park. We watched by live satellite on the monitors the Barber Adagio for Strings. The entire crowd was moved to tears in Hyde Park for the US. Utterly heart wrenching, raw and heartfelt.

And 19-20 years later I'm ashamed of the insanity of events of the past 18 months, and the resulting division between Americans. I spent 10 years in the US Army, doing tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. I worked with a lot of other militaries, and I realize I can count on one hand the number of foreign forces I would trust in combat, and would trust with my own troops' lives. The United Kingdom is #1 on that very short list. You are professionals, you are true allies, and this gesture will never be forgotten.

21 Years since the tragic loss of life and one of the most historic United States events of recent memory, and only 3 days removed from another equally historic event in the United Kingdom. The end of an era following the death of their longest reigning monarch and the one who authorized a touching tribute in memory of those who lost their lives that day.

Although I am not a head of state of any nation, I am an American, and one who will never forget learning of this moment, where the two nations’ warm relations intersected for yet another time in as many years as the younger has been alive.

I've watched this video many times and each time I've been moved each time..
Today is Sept. 9th, 2022 and I just learned of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II has pased at the age of 96. I can not speak for all Americans, but I can tell you that this American mourns for the United Kingdoms loss. I hold each of my distant cousins across the big pond in my heart and mind throufh this time of loss as each of you did on the day on Sept. 11th 2001.

I’ve seen this many times. I am a former British Military Musician and a few of my friends were in the band that day! I promise you, it was their honour to do so and they played with great emotional commitment.

I didnt even know yall did this for us, UNTIL TODAY. Thats when i went looking for a video and found this. Someone mentioned it on a video on your Queens passing, which im deeply sad about. On 9/11 my Dad worked in the pentagon for the AF and so I was at work freaking out and then driving to my families house so we could figure out if he was there and if he and his friends (people we know) were okay too. So I never knew the Queen did this. Please tell your friends whom played that day Thank You for honoring us that day while all of us were going thru horrible emotions and panic. They did a great job playing it and it brought me to tears just now watching it. Brought back memories of that day Ill never forget. So thank you to you and your friends and your country.

I remember watching this news broadcast the day it was aired. After witnessing the horror of 9-11-01 unfold, it was moving to see and much appreciated. I would like to say, as the events of today (4-9-2021) were not as devastating, I hope that the United States could do something to cheer up the people of the United Kingdom. Rest in peace Prince Phillip. My sincerest condolences to the Royal Family and all the people of the United Kingdom.

This is my first time hearing this and it was absolutely stunning. Knowing that the Queen ordered this right after 9/11 puts her in a whole different light for me. Much respect!!. On 9/11 was on Rt 78 in New Jersey when I heard about the first plane hitting the tower than looked up just in time to see the second plane hitting the other tower. Just surreal.

I still tear up from that. This was such a profound thing for me as a teen who just saw 9/11 happen I was so uncertain of what would come of it all and to see the queen do this and show that level of compassion at the time gave me chills and also did indeed reassure me that our allies really cared about our people.

I know people have problems with the queen but may she rest in peace.

As an American, there is something really beautiful in this video. The fact that British civilians were in tears waving American flags while listening to the 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘳 𝘚𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘉𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘳. The fact that they knew the history behind that song yet sung it as tribute to 9/11. And the queen requested that it be played, I just love this video.

Wow I am tremendously amazed, it wasn't even her country, but she showed a real patriotic duty. She showed a real pride and loyalty to the American people. There has been real steadfast loyalties to both countries. I didn't know this til after death. She finally earned my loyalty by this simple act of kindness to my country. I shall never forget the beautiful ways in which the UK responded, and remain ever grateful for Her Majesty's gesture of playing our national anthem during our darkest hours. I am not an American, I'm a Jamaican. But I must say...after my own national anthem, the star spangled banner is special to my heart. No other anthem makes tears come to my eyes like this one. The lyrics are sharp, meaning n piercing. Especially after the attacks on 9/11/01, i can just imagine crying while it's being played.

For us here in NYC it hit us in the heart whilst others were still on the Pile at Ground Zero. Plus the fact that the first funerals began for those who had been identified and recovered. The worst was hearing “Going Home” played by the Bagpipes for those first responders who had been killed, some folks in the media even said they were in tears.
