Boldly I Approach
The Rend Collective Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

By grace alone somehow I stand
Where even angels fear to tread
Invited by redeeming love
Before the throne of God above
He pulls me close with nail-scarred hands
Into His everlasting arms

When condemnation grips my heart
And Satan tempts me to despair
I hear the voice that scatters fear
The Great I Am the Lord is here
Oh praise the One who fights for me
And shields my soul eternally

Boldly I approach Your throne
Blameless now I'm running home
By Your blood I come
Welcomed as Your own
Into the arms of majesty

Behold the bright and risen Son
More beauty than this world has known
I'm face to face with Love Himself
His perfect spotless righteousness
A thousand years, a thousand tongues
Are not enough to sing His praise

Boldly I approach Your throne
Blameless now I'm running home
By Your blood I come
Welcomed as Your own
Into the arms of majesty

This is the art of celebration
Knowing we're free from condemnation
Oh praise the One, praise the One
Who made an end to all my sin

Boldly I approach Your throne
Blameless now I'm running home
By Your blood I come

Welcomed as Your own
Into the arms of majesty

Overall Meaning

The Rend Collective's "Boldly I Approach" is a song that explores the beautiful relationship between believers and God through salvation. The first verse and chorus describe how by grace alone, the singer can stand before God, even though it's a place where even angels fear to tread. The love that redeemed them brings them before the throne of God, where they're pulled close with nail-scarred hands, into God's everlasting arms. When fear and condemnation grip their hearts, the voice of the Great I Am scatters that fear and fights for them, shielding their souls eternally. The song then moves on to describe the beauty of the Son, the brightness of His risen glory, and the fact that the singer is now face to face with Love Himself. They're welcomed, blameless, into the arms of majesty, and the song concludes with a joyful celebration of the One who made an end to all their sins.

The song is a beautiful picture of God as a loving Father and a faithful defender. It highlights how salvation is a gift that we can't earn, and that we are completely unworthy of God's mercy, yet it's given to us freely through His grace. The song also beautifully describes the peace and love that the believer experiences when standing in the presence of God, and the victory that comes over sin and darkness.

I'm 15 years old, I lost my best friend to cancer when we were both 13, yesterday (1st November 2019) we should have been celebrating her 16th birthday, I my grandad at 8 years old, he was the best man I know, 2 days ago (on 31st October 2019) another one of my close friends suddenly passed away. I have been a Christian for years and I was baptised 1st April 2017, and I believe that everything happens for a reason. I will praise the Lord even when it hurts!
