These City Lights
The Rescue Lyrics

Tonight, under light
Would you be my friend for a while
Would you please pretend that you don't lie
Would you keep me warm if the sun won't shine
Tonight, under the city light
Would you be my guide if I am shy
Would you give me ride that I can fly
Tonight, under light
Would you treat me right if I am kind
Would you like me more if I can smile
Would you set on tears if I start to cry
Would you take me there last one more time
Tonight, under light
Would you keep me warm if the sun won't shine
Tonight, under the city light
The Rescue's song "These City Lights" is a melodious tune that talks about a person's desire to have a friend and be loved, no matter what. The song is an emotional plea asking someone to be their friend and take them through the joys and sorrows of life. The first verse of the song asks to take them one more time, under the city lights. This line denotes a sense of nostalgia and a longing to relive a moment they had shared with the person.
The lyrics "Would you be my friend for a while, Would you please pretend that you don't lie" signifies that the singer is looking for someone who can be truthful and honest with them, even if it means pretending to be their friend for a while. The chorus of the song is a repeating call to experience the warmth and light of the city lights, a symbol of hope and possibility.
The song's emotional theme is relatable to most people, and the lyrics convey a message of love, friendship, and hope even in the darkest of times. The soothing melody of the song, coupled with its meaningful lyrics, make it a perfect song to listen to when one feels lost, alone or unsure about their place in this world.
