GOD
The Revolution Prince Lyrics

Brr, aah, ooh-ooh
Hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo
Hoo!
Eeeeeee!
Oh
In the beginning
There was God
And the heavens
He gave us light
To rule the day
And another light
To rule the night
The Lord, thy God
Made, He made the seas
He made the fruit upon the trees
When He saw
When He saw that it was good
He made a man
He made a man, only He could, only He could
God made you
God made me, too
He made us all
Made us all equally
Now you say
God made you
God made me
He made us all equally
Aah!
Aah!
Yeah-yeah-yeah
Wake up, children
Dance the dance electric
There isn't much time
Who screamed?
Was it you?
The song God by Prince's band The Revolution speaks about the creation story from the Bible, painting a picture of how God made everything from the earth to the humans. The first stanza talks about the creation of earth and the division between day and night. It expresses that God was the only one who could create everything, thus establishing a sense of awe and wonder towards the divine.
The second stanza focuses on the creation of human beings, emphasizing the idea that God made everyone equally. This is a universal message of love and unity that still resonates today. It encourages people to recognize each other as equal even though they may look different, come from different backgrounds, and face different challenges.
The third and final part of the song is a call to action. Prince urges listeners to "wake up, children" and "dance the dance electric." The song suggests that time is running out and that people should use the time they have to express themselves, to love and to be happy. The final line, "who screamed? Was it you?" is a powerful call to action, encouraging listeners to speak out for what they believe in and to make sure their voices are heard.
Overall, God is a powerful song about the creation story, God's power and love, and unity among all people. It is a call to action for people to be brave, speak out, and to live their lives to the fullest.

Just sitting here with mouth open. Didn't move for the last minutes, just got goosebumps all around and tears start to roll. Nearly forgot to swallow and to breathe and was about to drool on the desk. How would you describe something like this to others without sound and video?
This is so raw, so passionate, so, well, intimidating because of sheer talent and genius and somehow down to what anything in universe is all about.
It's hard to find words for this. So raw, so passionate, so incredible skillful, that it marks and expands somehow the borders of human beings, as no human being could transport that in a ridiculous suit with a ridiculous guitar, but when you are Prince everything falls in place and it feels as natural as it can be. This is way beyond, what any other person I've ever heard of on earth could do.
Never seen anything like this and most probably never will.
Whoever this strange, little man was: He was much more than a man,., He was Prince. And whatever that is, is more, than we deserved. I feel like every cell of my useless existence is loaded now with his energy. Still. Sometimes he made me think, he is an evolutionary proof of concept of Human 2.0.
And although I wrote all this crazy stuff, I still feel speechless.
And when I look at this next time, it'll be the same. And again. And again. This will last for ages.

Just an incredibly special era. Great music, no cellphones, no internet - just living in the moment.

I feel so bad for the people that never got to actually experience a concert. I cannot imagine just standing there with thousands of others just holding a phone out / facetiming someone instead of getting lost in the moment.
My best concert memories were all before smart phones came out. Side note, I also worked as a medic at a major live concert venue so I've been at a TON of concerts / music festivals.
