1. The Room were… Read Full Bio ↴There are at least two artists which use this name:
1. The Room were formed in the late 70`s by Dave Jackson and Becky Stringer (both later of Benny Profane, Dust and The Dead Cowboys) before going through various personnel changes and splitting in 1985.
With their interesting mixture of smooth vocals (Mel Torne was a big influence), clever lyrics (at times worthy of Jackson’s hero Thomas Pynchon) and splindly yet melodic music (thin The Fall but with more emphasis on melody) the band though very much of their time were too clever to be lumped in with the Liverpool scene of the time (Bunnymen, Wah, Wild Swans etc)
Despite being a firm favourite of John Peel, the music press and having an album produced by Tom Verlaine The Room never made the commercial breakthrough their music deserved.
2.The Room are a melodic rock band hailing from the Southeast of the UK. Formed in 2010 the band finalized their line up in 2011 before starting work on a promotional single and then their debut album. Martin Wilson and Steve Anderson from progressive rock band GLD were joined by Andy Rowe, Andrew Rae and Steve Checkley.
The five band members brought together a broad range of musical influences which has helped form The Room's distinctive style. Smart songs with great melodies are the essence of the bands material with all the members involved in crafting the material.
Four highly successful launch shows were played in October 2011 to coincide with the release of the promotional single 'A Casual Believer' / 'A Multitude of Angels'. Audience reaction was superb and the band was thrilled with the response.

Sleep Tight
The Room Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And this is a song
Every little thing that they
Tell you is wrong
This isn't evil
This is a sound
And this conversation is possibly down.
I know that I don't sound like I should
I don't even belong to fashion.
This is a secret
And all this is true
Everything I tell you belongs here with you
I'm not a hero
I'm no good
I don't belong here but my heroes should
And I'm moving
And I'm lying down
And I'm losing
And I'm losing.
This is uncertain
This is unsound
Is this a feeling or something I've found?
This is a story
This is a song
Every little thing that I've told you is wrong.
The Room's song "Sleep Tight" is a contemplative yet somewhat mysterious song that speaks of a story and a song that are not what they seem. The song speaks of every little thing that people tell you as being wrong, and that the conversation is possibly down. The melancholic tune of the song adds a weight to the lyrics, and it's hard not to be intrigued by the somewhat paradoxical words that the band has used.
The singer talks about how they are not pretty or fashionable, and that they don't really sound like they should. The song then speaks of a secret that is true and everything that is being told belongs with the listener. The singer then goes on to say that they are not a hero and that they are no good, but the heroes should belong here.
The song ends with the singer talking about uncertainty, uncertainty, and how this is a story and a song, and every little thing they have told you is wrong. Overall, the song speaks of a hidden truth that is concealed behind a shroud of ambiguity, leaving the listener to wonder what the true meaning of the song is.

Lyrics
Sleep tight
I'm on my way back and feeling kinda sad
Cause you were the best thing I never knew I had
I'm out of streetlights, I better make tracks
Cause mum expects me back
But you were the best thing I never knew I had
And, oh my god, I've done it again
I almost killed our friendship, and I sure hope it's worth it
And I got all this stuff boiling up
Cause I got drunk and said too much
I'm running in circles, and now we're–
In the back of your car, we're gonna take it too far
God knows I've missed this, I've missed this feeling
You take off your jeans, and my heart started screaming
God knows I've missed– God knows I've missed this feeling
This feeling, this feeling, this feeling
God knows I've missed this feeling
Sleep tight, I'm coming right back to you in double time
Cause you were the best thing I never knew is mine
And it seems like I wanna rush things, I should just enjoy the ride
Cause you were the best thing I never knew is mine
And, oh my god, I can't believe
Everything was working out for me
Well, I sure hope we're worth it, we're worth it
Cause I said too much I can't take back
Sorry if you weren't expecting that
We go in circles, in circles, and we're–
In the back of your car, we're gonna take it too far
God knows I've missed this, I've missed this feeling
You take off your jeans, and my heart started screaming
God knows I've missed this feeling
Sleep tight, I'm on my way back and feeling kinda sad
Cause you were the best thing I never knew I had
In the back of your car, we're gonna take it too far
God knows I've missed this, I've missed this feeling
You take off your jeans, and my heart started screaming
God knows I've missed– God knows I've missed this feeling
This feeling, this feeling, this feeling
This feeling, this feeling, this feeling
