The band released one album, Do It Yourself, in 1997 and began work on a follow up (with Mark Heany replacing Watts as drummer), before splitting up due to musical differences during recording sessions in January 1999. The second album was never officially released, although it later surfaced as a bootleg.
Squire went on to release two solo albums: Time Changes Everything (2002) and Marshall's House (2004) . Helme, meanwhile, went on to form The Yards, along with Fletcher, who also joined Rick Witter and the Dukes with the former Shed Seven frontman in 2005.

The Seahorses - Moving On is a song about moving on from a relationship where one person no longer wants to be a part of it. The lyrics describe how the singer used to look up to their partner and hang onto every word they said, but now that seems like a distant memory, and they can't even remember yesterday. The partner then asks why the singer has changed their mind, but the singer bluntly tells them they are wasting their time. The singer is done with the relationship, and they have never felt so good about moving on.
The partner then tries to make amends by saying they feel deserted with no comfort from a friend, but the singer says they had it coming. They also say that the partner never really cared for them, only for themselves. The singer has tried to reach out to their partner multiple times, but something has always stood in the way. They acknowledge that clarity is something that they can't teach their partner, who has thrown everything away.
