You
The Shermans Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Yeah
Yeah
想回去 想充电 不用靠 催眠
鼓尽气 好好嗌 You
You 为什么不可以
扑向窗嗌 You 不可郁到 有事有事
嗌嗌嗌嗌 You 由自己疯一次 情绪的需要

伤风都要医 心魔都需要医
人人人人人人人人 Yeah

Overall Meaning

The Shermans's song "You" has lyrics in Mandarin Chinese that speak about the busy and chaotic lifestyle that the singer is living. The first two lines suggest that the singer doesn't know whether it's day or night and that they don't rest easily. The singer then questions their lack of ambition, which is ironic because they worry about everything, even when they're sitting down doing nothing. The singer wants to be able to calm down and sleep peacefully but doesn't know how.

The chorus of the song has the singer repeating the word "You," which can be interpreted as a form of screaming or letting out emotions that have been pent up for a long time. The singer wants to scream from the window and not keep it all inside. The lines "由自己疯一次 情绪的需要" roughly translate to "let yourself go crazy once, it's what your emotions need," indicating that it's okay to lose control of oneself sometimes. The last few lines of the song suggest that everyone needs to recharge and take care of their emotional and mental health, just like they would for physical health.

Overall, the song has a relatable message that at times we can all feel disconnected and overwhelmed by life's demands, and we need to take care of our mental and emotional well-being.

I grew up in a situation similar to the Sherman family, though at a much smaller scale (My dad isn't a billionaire as far as I know 😉) & some of the facts are slightly different so I can see how things may have been from the perspective of the Sherman side.
My grandfather was the owner/operator of a successful farm with a large farmhouse he built himself on the property. He also worked a factory job in the winter because he had a hard time with idleness.
He had 9 kids & they had lost their mother fairly young. My father was the 3rd oldest & was the only 1 with an interest in farming.
My grandfather wanted to scale back & just do a hobby farm instead of run the larger 1 but he also didn't want to break up the big farm. He offered first purchase opportunities to his children even though there was outside interest.
My father (age 22 & just married to his 18 year old pregnant, with me, girlfriend who grew up in the city suburbs & knew NOTHING about a farm) hawked almost everything he owned, signed away everything else he could which included his small inheritance from his mother's family & went into astronomical debt to buy the thing outright from his father.
It took my parents about 7 years of winter jobs & 15+ hour summer days until the profit was enough to start making it comfortable where money worries weren't a thing. For the 1st couple years my mom would make a grocery list & start crossing off what she could absolutely get by without so it was hard.
During that same time, the rest of the siblings were partying & having a great time. I was the 2nd oldest grandchild so for the Christmas after my 16th birthday, I got a car from my dad & my grandfather bought new tires for it. It was 6 years old & it's previous owner was an old guy who loved cigars but it was mine & I was grateful.
The brother who was 2 years younger than my dad & only lived a 1/2 mile from us acted like I had offended him personally somehow by having it.
This is the same guy who would wait until my dad was out in the field to come "borrow" the expensive tools he needed & my dad had to call him to have them returned. Finally he stopped returning them so dad told my mom if she saw him in the shop ask him to go talk to him.
My mom took my grandfather to the hospital as he wasnt feeling well & I was the only 1 home. Guess who shows up? (Pretty sure he thought nobody would be there.) I walk outside & he starts going for the shop so I tell him what my mom was told to tell him & he starts screaming & starts coming at me. He raises his hand like he's gonna hit me so I say "Do you REALLY believe your brother won't have you arrested if you hit his kid that he's never hit himself?"
He stomped away & screeched off in his truck. I told my father when he got home & the brother was told he would no longer be welcome & would be charged with trespass if my dad wasn't home. I HATED how he tried to take advantage of my dad.
Turns out that Dr appt was necessary. My grandfather had cancer & was right in the middle of building his nice retirement house.
Can anybody guess who ended up caring for my grandfather right up until he was completely bedridden? Yep, mostly my family with some help from 1 of my dad's sisters family who lived an hour away but in a different country.
My grandfather died about 4 months after he became bedridden. I was 17. My grandfather's will (which logically left my father as executor as he took his father to all the appointments necessary to get it done) stated that the farm, land & the $10,000 He had left after all his hospital bills & 4 months in a private care facility, was to be divided equally amongst the 9 children. My dad kept his executor fee of $500 for all the work my mother did to help him handle that & gave it to her but put his inheritance share in to be divided amongst the other 8 as he felt we were ok & some of the others were not. The land was sold outright when nobody wanted it & the jerky uncle was allowed to rent the house until he could get a mortgage (he was the only one without a decent house) & each of the siblings ended up with just over $20,000 after all that.
After the estate was basically closed & the 4 youngest kids took a look at what they ended up with compared to where my father ended up (they did the comparing), they decided he was given unfair advantage because my grandfather gave him the farm. There is A LOT of resentment. The oldest 4 (around him) remember how poor dad was at 1st & remember how hard he had to work.
I personally don't understand it as they were all given the same opportunity & my dad took it when nobody else wanted it. The farm wasn't given to him. He bought it at fair market value. He lended & helped the others when he could as long as nobody took advantage. The farm & house are several sizes bigger than they were &, while my parents NEVER used their 3 children as free labour, they worked VERY hard & compromised A LOT to build what they have.
That's why I understand the Sherman side of this particularly well. Without Barry, the company could've easily gone under & at the very least would be nowhere near what it turned into under his leadership &, if he paid for the company & turned it into a much bigger thing than anyone expected, I kinda get why he thought he didn't owe anything else & being fearful of allowing people who have made such poor choices anywhere near what he worked so hard to build. Yes, he called in their loans but only after they sued him. No I don't think he was a nice man & I definitely can't see my father making some of these choices but I understand why he did even if I don't like or agree with them. Have a great day!
