That Monday thing
No excuse for a diamond ring
That don't mean anything
To me at all
I will say you do it right
Getting used to the morning light
Without you here at all
Where does it go?
What happened to the love I give you?
You've got your eyes on the road
Don't see your passenger
There was a time when I used to think
You were gonna cut the drink
Maybe clear the dishes from the sink
Was that such a bad call?
Now I see you're living right
Cause she's looking so outa sight
Suddenly you outa make it tight
So she picks up our call
Where does it go?
What happened to the love I give you?
You've got your eyes on the road
Don't see your passenger
You say you want to love me x 5
Where does it go?
What happened to the love I give you?
You've got your eyes on the road
Don't see your passenger

The song "Go For It" by The Square featuring Milly Tabak explores the themes of love and the confusion and uncertainty that can come with it. The lyrics convey a sense of longing and questioning, as the singer reflects on the changes in their relationship.
In the first verse, the singer mentions "That Monday thing" which can refer to the mundane routines and obligations of everyday life. They downplay the significance of materialistic symbols like a diamond ring, suggesting that these things hold no real meaning for them. They express a fondness for the person they are singing to, acknowledging that they will miss them when they return home. The line "Getting used to the morning light without you here at all" suggests a sense of loneliness or emptiness in the absence of this person.
The chorus poses the question "Where does it go?" referring to the love that the singer gives. They express confusion about the diminishing presence of love in their relationship. It seems as though the person they are singing to has their attention elsewhere, perhaps focused on their own journey or personal goals, as indicated by the line "You've got your eyes on the road, don't see your passenger." This highlights a disconnect between the singer and their partner, as they struggle to understand why the love they once had is fading.
The second verse reflects on a past time when the singer had hoped their partner would change their behavior, like cutting down on drinking and taking care of household chores. They question whether it was a mistake to have such expectations. The lyrics imply that perhaps their partner has started living their life more responsibly, as seen through the statement "Now I see you're living right." However, this newfound focus and dedication to a different person (possibly someone new) leads the singer to feel left behind, as they mention their partner picking up someone else's call.
The chorus is repeated, emphasizing the singer's confusion and desperation for answers. The repetition of the line "You say you want to love me" further emphasizes their longing and desire for a rekindled connection. The song ends with the final repetition of the chorus, leaving the question of where their love went unresolved.
Overall, "Go For It" explores the complexities of love, its changes, and the challenges that can arise when one person becomes more focused on their individual journey, potentially at the expense of their relationship. The lyrics evoke a sense of vulnerability and longing as the singer seeks understanding and connection amidst the shifting dynamics of their love life.
