They began as The Buckeyes around 1955 with members Bruce Robinson and Ronnie Collins, and released two singles on the Cincinnati label Deluxe Records in 1957. In 1959 the group added Leroy Swearingen and released their first single as The Stereos, "A Love for Only You"; it flopped, and Swearingen left the group to be replaced by Nathaniel Hicks.[1] Swearingen, however, wrote the song "I Really Love You", which became their biggest hit, peaking at #15 on the U.S. Black Singles chart and #29 on the Billboard Hot 100.[2] They continued releasing singles up until 1968, none of which came close to reaching the success of "I Really Love You".

George Harrison covered "I Really Love You" for his 1982 album Gone Troppo.

I booked these guys to perform at “The Club” in Oklahoma City.

I’m 49. Back in 1995 I was 25. My friends and I were organizing and throwing underground raves back then. In Oklahoma City of all places. One weekend we rented out a theater and announced an event called Land of Vibes. We had 800 people show up. Then we decided to lease the theater and we opened a nightclub. The capacity for the club was 880. It was a hip location in a 1940’s Art Deco theater. Raves in OKC! Ahhh I’m having a flashback. Good times! Good times!

I had drove with brother to Ultra rave in Baltimore for New Years Eve 96, went into the mall and had bought the this song on cassette, enjoyed it to a high degree. BUT when in that rave little did i know, they Mixed the living fudge out of it to a point of Bliss!! Went outside before that got mixed and power lines were moving without wind. Then after a break sitting in our blazer ram wagon, some wonderful young Angel woman checked up on me 💓 Then I had no ticket, went back in to the rave, the brother at the door kinda wanted to see a ticket, took one look at my eye balls and welcomed me back without saying a word.
