Madness
The Stranges Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Lala lala, Lalala La, Ah
(The beautiful madness)

Tell me what has white, white wings
And slithers like a snake
Speech by tongues of fire brings
And gives more than it takes
Four books, four faces brought to light
A beast with covered over eyes
A body in this world
A mind not of this world

The Madness, The Madness
Holy, holy, flesh and dust
The Beautiful Madness

(Lala lala, lalala la)
What is it that calls unseen?
Who is this that waits?
Gentle as a whispering
That makes the mountains shake
A frame of mortal Word
Letters yet unheard

(Madness, mad madness)
Madness, Madness, Madness
The Madness, The Madness

Holy, holy, flesh and dust
The Beautiful Madness

Overall Meaning

The opening line of The Stranges' song 'Madness' already sets the tone for the rest of the lyrics: "Lala lala, Lalala La, Ah (The beautiful madness)". The 'beautiful madness' is a recurring theme throughout the song and is the central topic of the lyrics.

The first verse begins with a set of riddles that describe a creature with "white wings", but also "slithers like a snake". This paradoxical description is revealed to be the biblical beast with covered eyes mentioned in Revelations. The allusions to the Bible continue with the line "Speech by tongues of fire brings", which references the Pentecostal scene described in Acts 2:1-4. The reference to "Four books, four faces brought to light" is a common interpretation of the four gospels in the New Testament. The creature described, though physical in form with a "body in this world", possesses a "mind not of this world". This is a reference to the divine nature of the creature, which is beyond human comprehension.

The chorus continues the theme of the "beautiful madness", with the repetition of "Madness, Madness, Madness/The Madness, The Madness/Holy, holy, flesh and dust/The Beautiful Madness". The reference to "flesh and dust" is an allusion to the biblical story of Adam and Eve, who were created from dust (Genesis 2:7) and who sinned against God by giving in to their carnal desires.

The second verse changes direction, focusing on the unknown and unseen, and the power that can shake mountains with just a whisper. The "frame of mortal Word" and "Letters yet unheard" are references to the potential for revelation, for new understandings and knowledge beyond our current comprehension.

Hey +AndresSabugo, sí tenemos pendiente esa tarea! Esperamos pronto poder subirlo, por el momento aquí te dejamos los lyrics:

Immortal, am I immortal?
Help me! Am I losing my head?
Thousand questions invade my psyche
Growing obsession, cold and icy

I’m so alone, can’t leave the room, I may be doomed and find my own tomb

(Chorus)
Voices in my head
Everything’s a threat
Is it possible?
It’s unstoppable
And if one day I can find the peace I lost
It won’t last
My fears always come back

All the time under my blanket
Hiding from the Great Hooded One
She’s coming, stop her!
Don’t let her take me away from here
To live with fear, it’s just a bad dream!

I’m so alone, can’t leave the room, I may be doomed and find my own tomb

(Chorus)

I’m freaking out
Can’t have control over my mind
The game is over!

(Chorus)
