Timeless
The Sun and The Moon Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I ain't running out of time
Cause I'm timeless
Gotta grind, keep on grinding
Don't fuck with me won't get a dime
Not a diamond
You niggas outta line
Out of sight out of mind
But never mindless
I ain't blind, or blind sided
I swear to God a nigga fine
I'm the finest
A nigga so timeless
Hug the block, tuck the glock, yeah
In the sock, hide the guap, yeah
Niggas snakes, niggas fox, yeah
No they rats, niggas ops, yeah
I gotta get it I can't stop
Bubble wrap tryna pop
Doing things by lonely
Had a couple homies
Walk around like they don't know me
Bout go back to the old me
Niggas change up every day
I swear that's the only way
Old hoes got shit to say
Til they new nigga DOA
Rollie don't tick but anyway
Keep it on the wrist just to say
I ain't running out of time
Cause I'm timeless
Gotta grind, keep on grinding
Don't fuck with me won't get a dime
Not a diamond
You niggas outta line
Out of sight out of mind
But never mindless
I ain't blind, or blind sided
I swear to God a nigga fine
I'm the finest
A nigga so timeless
I was just a young nigga
Never was a dumb nigga
Came up out the slums nigga
Don't think that there's one nigga
I could not compete with
Bad biddies that I sleep with
Helped me level up cause y'all sleep shit
Music for me deep, it's the seepest
Coming with it strong, no weakness
New York taught me street shit
Now I'm in the south like the Freaknik
All you niggas sleep come peep this
Lyrical ability that'll leave you speechless
But if you run your mouth
Be it word to mouth
If your hating it's prolly just about
The fact that I'm never running out
I ain't running out of time
Cause I'm timeless
Gotta grind, keep on grinding
Don't fuck with me won't get a dime
Not a diamond
You niggas outta line
Out of sight out of mind
But never mindless
I ain't blind, or blind sided
I swear to God a nigga fine

I'm the finest
A nigga so timeless

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Timeless" by The Sun and The Moon convey a sense of confidence, determination, and resilience. The singer rejects the notion of running out of time because they perceive themselves as timeless. They emphasize the need to stay focused, work hard, and not waste their time on those who don't deserve it. The phrase "not a diamond" suggests that the singer doesn't give their precious time or attention to just anyone.

The lyrics also touch on the theme of loyalty and betrayal. The singer acknowledges that there are people who are "out of line" or "out of sight," but they remain mindful and aware. They switch between addressing their haters and their own personal growth, claiming to be fine and the finest. The repeated refrain of "I'm the finest, a nigga so timeless" serves as an affirmation of self-worth and an assertion of their prominence.

In the second verse, the lyrics provide some background of the singer's journey. They mention their humble beginnings in the slums and their perseverance to rise above their circumstances. They speak about their ability to compete and attract attractive partners, as well as their talent in producing deep music. The lyrics touch on their experiences in New York, specifically referencing the street knowledge they acquired and their current location in the South.

Overall, "Timeless" can be interpreted as a declaration of self-assurance and determination to succeed regardless of obstacles, while also highlighting the importance of staying loyal to oneself and avoiding distractions.

I'm always happy for any poet that broke through. It's been hard. Almost impossible. Been struggling for 20 years now.
"We’re hostages of our own little tales;
readers are wont to follow the blind,
because it is in these handicapped veins
where there’s a suspicion of strife;
an islet in a lifeless ocean,
for it is in doubt where we find the signs of faith;
it is in the driest end of the desert where we find the most
precious of waters; it is in the darkest, loneliest corner where we can
find the happiest, purest of lights."-c.m. garcia

@Jaskiran I disagree. Like others have stated most people dont want to read some long shpill with fancy words they dont understand. Rupi can tell a beautiful story that is understood by even a non native english speaking person in some foreign country such as myself.

If you read milk and honey its def something that takes talent to write. From the loving to the breaking. All chapters flow together really well. How she speaks about when her man leaves her. He finds a new girl but will never love as much. I think is simple to understand yet moving. Winning concept.

"The woman who comes after me will be a bootleg version of who I am.
She will try to write poems for you to erase the ones I've left memorised.
But her lines could never punch you in the stomach the way mine did.

When she is tired of falling apart for a man that doesnt give back what he takes
She will recognise me in your eyelids staring at her with pity and it will hit her.
How can she love a man who is busy loving someone he can never get his hands on again.

The next time you have your coffe black
You will taste the bitter state he left you in. It will make you weep. But you will never stop drinking. You'd rather have the darkest parts of him than have nothing.

@Inside His Brain , I hear you. I mean, I'm glad she made it, but I can't even find a damn publisher. I think I'm gonna start an Instagram or something for my poetry. Here's one called "Death Pending":
Yet again I find contradiction
See the truth in these eyes
Illuminate the fiction
And in whatever plight
Through day or night
In death will this pass

It is my flaw to dwell in the past
Hear the woe in this voice
From memory amassed
And I have been told
That what may unfold
In death will this pass

@MrDarren690

Poetry does have free verse:
Entangled in these lines is a
congruence, or perhaps fascimile
of that style? Points made,
in my double-reach pontificate;
these words lurk solemn here.
But Ms. Kaur's works are,
sad to say, very much versification.
Oh, Miss Belles-Lettres!

@ladybird491

I don't think i know. Only cause she talks, I show as a poet.

In a Mirror

Death, is difficult to deny being.
Ashes, are difficult to desire.
Depression, is difficult to make lighter
or make just a past dream.

But sometimes, whether or not
we decide to face it much
or say it is all that we got,
we must try not, to always make it
our one and only touch.

@deluna7090

"Here is one of my poems" from my collection. Enjoy!!!!💯

Through thick and through thin
I'm still standing here,
I may have fallen but stopping is near

GOD I will get up
I need you to steer,
I got a bad headache
My vision aint clear

Mistakes
Tons I've made them
I'm changing
Committing,
I write this in blood
Like that which is written

The breathing
And living
"O" absolute truth,
Growing up GOD
was apart of my youth

The thing
I remember
Is the peace I felt,
Words can't define
To express
I need help

It's time now I take this
back to the basic,
The old things I'll front
I got to just face them

Much thankful
The angle
u use
when u see ,
Depends,
how I look
When ur looking at me

I'm far from what's perfect
Merely a man
If you love me
Catch me
I barely can stand

I know that I shouldn't
I always will help you,
No matter the cost
If your lock up
I'll bail you

No need to explain!
Dont waste time explaining,
As long as your safe
My heart can stop racing

These days they been shaky
I Have no where to hold too
If I die
Boo boo, will hear what I wrote you

Inspired by beauty
"0" truly the bomb,
To learn what a woman is
Look to your mom

Never stop searching for knowledge
Don't trust what u see,
Sometimes,
a diamond needs Polish like me

My light is the brightest
The blackest of sheep,
The things that are darker
Shine brighter to me

This is the best poem ever should have been part of milk and honey

@hiverbleu8878

I've always been CONVINCED that this woman is only famous because the name "rupi kaur" with lowercase letters looks quirky and exotic while the stuff she reads is as basic white and uninspiring as they come. AND SHE IS NOT EVEN WHITE.
