Founded in Detroit, Michigan, United States in 1959, The Supremes began as a quartet called The Primettes. Founding members Florence Ballard, Mary Wilson, Diana Ross, and Betty McGlown, all from the Brewster-Douglas public housing project in Detroit, were the sister act to The Primes (later The Temptations). In 1960, Barbara Martin replaced McGlown, and the group signed with Motown in 1961 as The Supremes. Martin left at the end of 1961, and Ross, Ballard, and Wilson carried on as a trio. After they achieved success in the mid-1960s with Ross as the lead singer, Motown president Berry Gordy renamed the group Diana Ross & the Supremes in 1967, and replaced Ballard with Cindy Birdsong. Ross left the group for a solo career in 1970, and was replaced by Jean Terrell. After 1972, the lineup of the Supremes changed frequently, with Lynda Laurence, Scherrie Payne, and Susaye Greene all becoming members before the group ended its eighteen-year existence in 1977.

Don't you know that I done fell for you
I want to know, baby
Tell me what cha gonna do
You took my love
All my love
Don't lead me astray
My heart, baby
Is all weak for you
So please
Be careful and treat me true
'Cause you're my life
I want to be a wife
Don't lead me astray
Let me go the right way
Let me go the right way
Where you lead me
Where you lead me
I'll follow you
What you tell me
What you tell me
That's what I'll do
'Cause baby I'm your's
Don't you know that I done fell for you
I want to know, baby
What cha gonna do
You took my love
All my love
Don't lead me astray
Let me go the right way

I actually had this 45 back in '62. I always felt it was a really good tune, especially for the times. Don't know why it never really went anywhere --- it still sounds pretty darn good to me.

Definitely better then the crap out there now

Didn't make a hit because Florence was the one that recorded this version and of course, Diana had something to say about that. Of course, there's a lot more to the story.
