The impossible dream
The Supremes Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go

To right the unrightable wrong
To love pure and chaste from afar
To try when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable star

This is my quest to follow that star
No matter how hopeless, no matter how far
To fight for the right
Without question or pause
To be willing to march
Into hell for a heavenly cause

And I know if I'll only be true
To this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I'm laid to my rest

And the world will be better for this
That one man, scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star
The fight the unbeatable foe
To dream the impossible dream

And the world will be better for this
That one man, scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star

To fight the unbeatable foe
To dream the impossible dream

Overall Meaning

The Supremes' song "The Impossible Dream" is a powerful anthem about pursuing one's dreams and aspirations despite the odds stacked against them. The lyrics encourage the listener to dream big and fight for what they believe in, even if it seems impossible to achieve. To "bear with unbearable sorrow" and "try when your arms are too weary" speaks to the struggles and challenges that come with chasing a dream. The line "to love pure and chaste from afar" suggests that sometimes the goal may be unattainable or unrealistic, but it's still worth striving for anyway.

The lyrics also call for a willingness to sacrifice and take risks, even if it means going to hell for a higher cause. This is a particularly relevant message in today's world, where many people are fighting for social justice and equality. The song reminds us that even when we're faced with seemingly impossible obstacles, we should keep pushing forward and never give up.

Overall, "The Impossible Dream" is a powerful tribute to the human spirit and our innate desire to achieve greatness. It encourages us to embrace our dreams and pursue them with passion and purpose, regardless of the challenges that may arise.

The trues is, we are all related to each other!
From the seconds, When the energy explodet.

1000 song without notes,
Normality gone away.
Why didnt i concentraded More in the lyrics in the past?
I would never seen That miracle!

In that mass of the helplessness,
A Voice was sended to me.
Like a mirror it Showded me my handling.
I have to change something,
If i want to.

Every step in life has its consequenzes.
And the chainreaction made me checkmate.

A picture of a man showed me.
He walked alone in the desert.
He turned to me,
If he could sees me.
But he was silent!

A saw a light When I wanted to go to sleep.
I didnt want to follow ist, didnt want to go inside there!
Compulsive i stayed awake.
Till i fighted fear and decided me for the light.

I thought I would die.
Now the time is coming for me.
I was opened for everything and nothing.

I opened After Long darkness my eyes.
And was for 1000 Songs and their lyrics and notes prepared.
Understanding all in just a second.

And if i am only the only body nearby
I know i am not alone!

And it Feels so cozy and warm.

Even only i hug myself!
