Free Style
The Sylvers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
There won't be no special days
When you move, you do what you want to
People around the world
Party hearty on the floor
And they add their own thing when they start moving
They sway
A little bit of this
They sway
A little bit of that
I say
Get on the floor
And go for what you know
Free style
Free style
Free style
Free style
Keep it time
To the beat of the music
That's what it's all about
Whatever's on the turntable
Gonna put my own label
Do the moving I got to express
They sway
A little bit of this
They sway
A little bit of that
I say
Get on the floor
And go for what you know
Free style
Free style
Free style
Free style
Get on the dance floor
Free style
Do what you wanna do
Free style
Go for what you know
Free style
Whoo, yeah
Free style
Let the music take your mind
Free style
Whoo, yeah
Free style
Do what you wanna do
Free style
Yeah, yeah
Free style
Free style
Free style
Free style
Free style
Free style
Free style
Free style
Free style
Free style
Free style
Free style
Free style
Free style
The Sylvers's song, "Free Style," is all about freeing yourself from worry and inhibition to enjoy the moment with abandon. The lyrics describe how people around the world party and add their own movements to the music when they start to move their hips. The dancers add a little bit of this and a little bit of that, moving to the beat of the music. The song's message is clear: Just get on the dance floor and go for what you know.
The song's title, "Free Style," is a nod to the dance genre that emerged in the 1970s that was characterized by improvisation and creative movements. The Sylvers, a family band rooted in R&B and soul music, used funky basslines and disco-infused beats to create a track that was irresistible to dance to. The song's chorus repeats, "Free style," emphasizing the message of freedom and improvisation.
The lyrics are a call to action, encouraging people to let go of their inhibitions and express themselves without fear. The Sylvers suggest that when you dance, you should do what you want to do and not worry about what other people think. In this way, the song celebrates individuality and encourages listeners to embrace their uniqueness.

The Slyvers are multi- talented. Besides singing, Leon writes and arranges their tunes, Ricky, Edmund and James play guitar, drums and keyboard. Leon also plays guitar. Not to mention they can dance. That Edmund, whew!! Charmaine designs their outfits, helping them look so good doing their thing. The most beautiful family ever. By the way, The Slyvers will be featured again on Unsung on family night on May 4th. Don't miss it
@amazing50000
Pat Slyvers also played keyboards. I see her credited all over Solar Records releases. Foster Slyvers also played the bass and Charmaine co-wrote hit records for Solar Recording Artists like "In The Raw" by The Whispers & "A Night To Remember" by Shalamar.
