Overall Meaning

The Three Tenors's song "Maria" begins with the Latin prayer "Ave Maria" which means "Hail Mary." The phrase "Gratia plena" which is repeated three times means "full of grace." The song is an ode to the Virgin Mary, who is revered in Catholicism as the mother of Jesus Christ.

The lyrics go on to describe Mary as "blessed among women" and "blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus." This is a reference to the Annunciation, where the angel Gabriel tells Mary that she has been chosen to give birth to the son of God. The song ends with the words "Ave Maria," which are repeated twice.

The song has been interpreted in many ways, with some seeing it as a prayer for guidance and protection from Mary, while others see it as a celebration of her role in Christianity. The soaring vocals of The Three Tenors add a majestic quality to the song, making it all the more powerful.

CARRERAS e PAVAROTTI vozes divinas abençoada por DEUS , os tenores maravilhosos e imbatíveis, deram um excelente show na execução deste concerto. Bravos maestros PAVAROTTI e CARRERAS esplêndidas vozes.

They're all amazing, and by far the best out of all. They all have their strengths and weaknesses. But truthfully, does it matter? Yeah, Pavarotti knows how to belt it, and Placido has a very sophisticated tone and Carreras has a sweet sound, but they're all amazing and that's what matters. I love this medley, one of my favorites by them.
